Sound Insulation

I have been strongly considering adding sound insulation to my vehicle. I have been looking at Don's site (sounddeadenershowdown.com). It looks like if I do the whole BRZ that it will add about a hundred pounds. Has anyone added MLV (Mass Loaded Vinyl), foam & tiles to their FR-S or BRZ? What parts of the car did you treat? Did it significantly reduce road noise? How long did it take you to install?

this is the stuff i used in my truck. it comes in 2 sizes, 50mil and 80mil. the 80mil is a little bit more expensive (30 bucks more for 100sqft) but well worth it. if the link expires, search "fatmat" on ebay.

rattles in our car isnt an issue but it significantly cut out the road noise and highway noise as well as kept the noise inside. the only time i herd noises from outside was when a jet was flying over me or it was a very windy day.

I have not added any of this to my car yet. However, I plan to deaden my doors using the tiles and MLV. I'll probably add some as well to the floor board area and definitely deaden the trunk.

Thanks, please let me know if you move forward on the project.

I will. I already have the sound deadener, Audio Technix 60 mil & MLV. It'll be a while, though as I'm about to head out of town for a few months.

there is a guy on here, who budgeted himself 15lbs of sound deadener and seemed to fix a ton of the little rattles and the quality of the sound. hear is his build thread

Thanks, I will check it out. Even though it is heavy I think a solution using MLV is the way to go.

On my Camaro I used B-Quiet Extreme. Bought it from eBay and got a good deal a few years ago. Did the entire interior and trunk. Went from needing earplugs (seriously) to being able to hold a normal conversation, even with the windows open. Amazing stuff.
