Lightest wheels for the $$$ - besides the RPF-1's

I thought it'd be cool to compile a list of the best lb/dollar ratio wheels on the market. Everyone knows that the RPF-1's are pretty much the king for light weight, price, and size availability, but their beauty is a bit of a toss up depending on who you ask, size, and the car they're on. Fortunately it seems the twins look good with just about any wheel (Since they're naturally pretty stylish and don't need the wheels to dress them up) but I'm still unsure if I personally like the RPF-1's on this car compared to some other options.

So, let's get a list going of light weight wheels that don't break the bank in both 18 and 17 inch sizes. :)

I'll start with the OZ Alleggerita and Ultraleggera. Two that I generally like the looks of and have comparable weights to the RPF-1's. The Alleggerita HLT's even have MAT type barrels. :)

I think Darren has pretty much got this topic covered - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7535

There's a lot of wheels on that list that don't have weights listed, (Lots of Enkei wheels without weights for no apparent reason) and I'd say that list is more concentrated on fitment and finding a style you like than weight, but I see your point.

I still think a thread just for those guys (like myself) who want the lowest rotational mass for the $$ would be helpful. :)

Kosei K4R, 15.8lbs at 17x8 or 14lbs at 17x7.

Not sure if you're going to find anything lighter/cheaper than that at $199 a corner. Tempted to go this route myself in 17x8. Just haven't convinced myself on the convex spokes. I'd rather have something concave, but you usually won't see that until you hit a width of 9 inches.

The Motegi MR125 come in 17x7.5 5x100 +42 and weigh in at 16.3 lbs

all for about $700 for the set.

VSGTS14 10-22-2012 04:54 PM

enkei. 17-18" enkei weigh 16-18 lbs.

WedsSport TC105N. 17x8 is 14.85 lbs, and under $500.

Under $500? Yeah, each.

Not that I'm overly fond of this wheel, but I agree that these are the best bang for the buck that I've found too. Would love to see some alternatives.

Motegi Traklite 2.0's in 17x8 weigh 14.3 pounds and while they are ~$300 each new, they are also forged.

What, like you didn't list the weight of the OZ wheels?

I think the key here is to find the lightest wheels that still have a decent enough construction to hold up well. Enkei's comes to mind, and then what also does is TSW. TSW Nurburgrings come in, 17x8 and weigh 17.95lbs if you want something ridiculously light, but they're still rotary forged, so they've got a high tolerance, very high durability, and a great load rating.
