Which car to park outside?!
Bored and want to hear what people have to say about this
Which car should we park outside in our driveway? It's going to rain tomorrow. If not, the fog will probably get it all wet anyways. Needless to say, if whichever we park outside, it's going to get wet. -A 2003 4Runner with 37,000 miles. Dark Bluish/Gray. Flawless, clean, uncontaminated paint. It's been garaged its whole life and only used in the rain (on accident) twice. Bottom chassis and parts down there are super clean. Looks like it rolled out of the showroom yesterday. -A 2012 Prius. We've been parking it outside for 1 week ever since we got the FR-S. It's white and gets dirty easily because of being wet all morning. But, I also find it a waste because it's brand new...6 mos old. Does it seem like it's kind of a waste to just throw 10 years of garage queen status for a newer car that's going to be used more oftenly as a Daily driver? |
I say the FR-S....if you have it, flaunt it.
Oh yeah, award for "First World Problem" goes to you. |
props to you for keeping it in great shape, but you should see what others are doing with their 4runners
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usIvpQmI_yM"]4runner Off Road - YouTube[/ame] and yes thats a dog in back, lol. realTalk - if the FRS is going to be DD'd then I say keep it outside. no point in keeping a car exposed to the elements if it's not gonna be driven regularly. |
I would say Prius because it is easier to wash and it just an appliance anyway - no soul. It is a pain in the butt to wash a SUV and I wouldn't trust subaru's paint job which fades very easily (observed from imprezas...)

Hey everyone! So my family has the Prius parked outside since it has a daily driver status. It makes sense since the 4Runner and FR-S are the rarely used ones, so they go in the garage.
We're not treating our cars the way they're supposed to be treated, except for the Prius and my Corolla lol. The 4Runner is a rear wheel drive that wasn't available in NorCal, my dad took a plane to a SoCal dealership...Carson Toyota I think... and drove it back up here. My dad loves 4Runners, it's his favorite car...err SUV. But he's not the kind who will off road or track a car. In the future, I will do that and show him what he missed out on. The FR-S is aimed to have less miles than the 4Runner in a decade or so. I'm anticipating the FR-S to be like the AE86 so in twenty years if I have kids and they are teens they can be proud of having an FR-S in such an immaculate condition! |
How do you have a 4Runner and don't drive it in bad weather?
EDIT: It's RWD? Really? I figured with the name 4Runner, all of the models would have AWD...guess not. |
