Thanks for the update Steve.
|
Thanks Steve. I will be interested to see the $CDN price on the Vortech kit.
|
If the pricing is what I am hoping for JRP will be buying the first 20 kits for the FRS/BRZ. I would be interested to know what is the pricing is USD that you would be willing to spend without question.
Of coarse assuming the kit is complete and makes decent jam.... Knowing Vortech the kit will be bang on quality wise and HP will be great for pump gas 93 octane. Watch for updates here. |
Just curious at this point, unless it is a really smokin' deal. To be honest, I'm more a fan of P.D. blowers. I'm really hoping that someone will come out with an Eaton TVS based kit. P.D. kits are often a lot more money than centrifugal set-ups though, so the right price could make it very tempting.
|
PD blowers are great for an additional 50-80hp but anything more than that they just become inefficient due to the rotr friction heating up eyond thermal efficiency.
Back in the day we litterally sold hundreds of Eaton based superchargers for the Honda B series from Jackson racing, you could go from 6psi to 8 psi with little issue but some guys made custom pulleys to up the boost or change the crank pulleys to get more boost but they simply could not produce any more power. At around 12psi-14 psi it would start to loose HP even though PSI was increased. |
True (sort of), but the instant low down kick is a hoot and the sound is to die for.
I say "sort of" because although this is pretty accurate for the older Eatons like the MP90 on my other car (they don't call 'em hEatons for nothing), the newer TVS series is another story. The TVS units produce efficiency numbers right up there with the centris, and haven't lost a bit of the torque that P.D. blowers are famous for. They have lost some of the whine, but I can live with that in favor of lower IATs and more boost potential. That said, kits that use these blowers are usually pretty expensive...If the Vortech kit is priced on the sweet side, I could be swayed. |
No more updates?
