GT5 vs Forza 4

So, after some time on the market, I think it's time we revisited this topic of discussion. I remember when GT5 came out and aside from some set backs not implemented in the game, it was still Kick ass. Then the announcement of Forza4 hit the gamers ears and all the fan boys jumped in and started talking how it would crush GT5 and it was going to blow GT5 away and X,Y,Z...etc (kinda like what Shift 2 was "suppose" to do, but that game sucks).

Anyhow, now there are real comparisons coming out on Youtube and what not. And hate to say it, I'm starting to get a little disappointed in what I'm seeing from Forza4. I am a GT/Sony player thick and thin. But the talk of Forza4 had raised an eyebrow and I was thinking of letting my all GT wall down a little to accept it into my "in group" of racing titles. I was contemplating on picking up an XBox360 with the promise of Forza4 rocking it pretty good and what not, but I think after some of these vids, I'm having a change of heart and probably won't waste my money on it.

I haven't played FM4 yet but im sure there will be an update to their AI as users explore the game and give their feedbacks. GT5 ai's on version 1 tend to bump me off the road when im side by side with them.

I believe Forz4 got the better exhaust note audios vs GT5's, and have more car cockpit views than gt5.

but that said i still believe gt5 is better in the handling and suspension tuning department and people say we have the better online gameplay.

Both games got their own pros and cons and i dont think on is superior than the another :)

havent played f4 but i really enjoy gt5. i hope the consensus is that gt5 is better because i dont want to have to buy a xbox. haha

Forza 4 has far better audio, has interior views for EVERY car, also has the extremely-detailed Autovista mode, and the online should be better with the introduction of the new Rivals mode and knowing how good Forza 3's online went. All of the car models are equally as detailed, and while the suspension, etc. may not be quite as good, they are still VERY close.

GT5 just seems like it wasn't finished when it was released, and to me, no matter how many updates they release, it never will be. BECAUSE it came out that way. It's already left a bad taste in my mouth because it's missing so many key points - importing some car models from the last-gen of consoles makes the game inconsistent and from photo's I've seen posted on forums, the standard cars just do not belong in the game. The standard cars don't have interior views, you can't change wheels on them, etc.

In the end, the game that I've had most fun with is Forza 3 so far... I've only rented Forza 4 for a few days (my purchased copy is on it's way), and from what I've played, 4 is a much better and more well-rounded game than 3. GT5 was a disappointment because it was hyped so much, and didn't live up to that hype. I guess that has left me bitter...

The only thing I really don't like about GT5 is the premium/standard division. In that respect Forza is miles better.

iv been a GT fan from GT1-GT3, after getting GT4 i felt like they hit a brick wall. and with their attempts at another GT game (GTHD/GT4Prologue/GTPSP /GT5Prologue/GT5) it just added to my theory that they are stuck in limbo recreating a game over and over again that doesn't catch our attention anymore.

I liked Forza 3 & 4 and they are probably the best racing games out at this moment, but it still hasn't impressed me as a car game should.

I personally do not have faith in any company that makes a racing simulator whoes director is not a long standing enthusiast and a person who is involved in the culture of tuning.

I believe that director of PD Kazunori Yamauchi still has yet to understand what car culture is today..vs 15 years ago. Until then all the material will be a revamp of old, and new material will be very small.

I believe that Dan Greenawalt is an outstanding director of Forza (even if iv only met him a once) and knows that his games are going in the right direction. But I think hes still missing something soulful that captures the hearts of real drivers, and to impliment that into his games would require him to get down and dirty like a real average enthusiast.

Sorry, not one for a crappy interior on all cars vs Prestine interior on most of the cars. It's about quality not quantity. And don't say Forza4 interior is just as good as GT5 Premium car interiors cause they are not. Standard cars on GT5 have interiors and they look like F4...lol.

AutoVista sounds cool, but I would want to turn off Jeremy's voice. Very close to maybe Shift 2 from the reviews I've been seeing.

Standard cars in-game look like Forza cars in game, did you see the video above when it went to the Veyron? The Veyron in GT5 is a standard car and it looks better in game than Forza4's Veyron in game.

Will they even be able to update F4? Or will you have to DLC everything and pay for it. That's the question, cause GT5 only got better from release date through free updates.

And what is car culture today? I hope you don't think painting headlights as a "tuning" feature in a game is what car culture is about today (latest addition to F4).

That bolded section is what separates the men from the boys, and GT5 from Forza4. The gimmick stuff F4 adds is for pure entertainment and nothing more. But its only attractive to the boy racer. While Kaz from PD is out racing in the 24hrs of Nurburg with a race built GTR that later they modeled and now I'm using that same GTR in GT5, what does Dan at Forza do in his spare time when not developing Forza4? Not racing and understanding car physics that's for sure.

Neutral_Eyes 10-22-2011 01:26 PM

I like parts of both, but ultimately I think the GT5 experience is more what I'm looking for. Sure, I'd like to swap engines or put anime girls on my cars, but if that comes at the cost of racing enjoyment, I'll pass. I suppose I am a bit bias though, as I don't own a 360, and I'm not willing to shell out $400+ just to play one game that I don't feel is decidedly better than one I'm already playing.

I want more GT300 cars, actually cars in general, and tracks (SSR11?!?). PSN ID is same as user name here and GT5 is what I'm usually playing. Don't have a wheel or mic.. yet, but I'm almost always game for a race.

I'm not one for inconsistancy... To me it's very poor to make one car (much) more detailed than another.
Forza 4's interiors aren't quite as good as GT5's premium cars, but they are definitely up-to-par. Although Forza 4's Interiors ARE better than GT5's standard car interiors.

Jeremy's voice is only on one of the "points" (of which there are many for each car), you can choose to ignore those ones if you wish - they're the ones with the gear around the information point. The rest of them are done by the narrator of the rest of the game.

How is it like Shift 2? Because of the race-drivers starring in Shift 2? It's not like that at all, to be honest.

No, they don't, maybe you're comparing it to Forza 3? Also, SOME of the standard cars look very bad in GT5, not all of them (the ones they imported from GT4 are the bad looking ones, the others are reasonable, though still not as good as Forza IMO)

That's the thing - Forza 4 is a finished game, any DLC is an add-on, not something they've had to go back and fix because they've run out of time after delaying the game for a couple of years already.

I really think you need to go and play Forza 4, it's a big improvement over 3, even though it may not seem it at first glance. I've played both games and Forza is just better. You have to play both games to be able to make an opinion on that!

Sooo dragonitti have you played Forza 4 yet?

BTW you're sounding like a biased GT5 fanboy.

We don't need this thread as we all know how this is gonna turn out to be a freaking keyboard outrage. :barf:

I played both & they both have their pro&cons, personally I think Forza = "fun" to fool around & GT = shit tons of cars i love.

But for real, please stop compare the 2 and go play some burnout if you wanna start the forum war here. :paddle:

Snaps 10-22-2011 08:59 PM

^ Haha, that's exactly how I see this thing turning out.

Seriously though - Dragonitti really needs to go and TRY Froza 4 for a while before flat-out saying GT5 is better :)
