OEM FRS Mudflaps

I have a BRZ limited and was looking to purchase OEM FRS mudflaps (optional when purchase at dealerships). Anyway are they compatible with BRZ limited editions?

86_ZN6 10-18-2012 05:25 PM

same body same rear bumper so yes its compatible

gdi2290 10-18-2012 05:27 PM

yes you can buy them on ebay

ExWhyZer0 10-18-2012 05:27 PM

Got them on Amazon for around $60. Yep they should work for BRZ.

jgbruno 10-18-2012 05:30 PM

I thought so, I am buying from dealership here in Hawaii it's $59, but it saves me on shipping. Thank you for the quick responses.

M&M_Hwy9 10-18-2012 08:07 PM

Just finished installing the OEM mud guards on Missy FR-S. All went well, it took about 3hrs total, but I also took off all the wheels and cleaned everything under the wheel wells.

kendalldwhite 10-18-2012 08:47 PM

just buy the rally armor ones

I did consider the rally armor mud flaps, but I liked the FRS mud flaps a little better. It will cost me $59, instead of $129 + shipping (to hawaii), so this is a big plus here.

I got the crystal black silica, thats one reason I wanted the rally armor mud flaps but I needed a mud flaps asap. It's been raining lately and the sides of my car has watersports thrown by the wheels. :(

Yeah, but unlike the OEM ones, the Rally Armor version don't rub grit directly into your paint.

You got any pictures of how it looks like on your car?

DaJo 10-18-2012 09:13 PM

Yes, they are interchangeable for the FR-S, 86, GT86, and Subaru...

Not so sure what you mean because the OEM mud flaps looks solid and the rally armor mud flaps is rubber that can move. Unless you meant the other way around, I must be misreading this wrong.:iono:

It will look perfect on black because of the matching colour, it will be a lot less noticeable... lol

Cheers! :happy0180:

He means by the sides where it wraps around the paint a little. Honestly I don't see it as too much of a problem as long as you wash and maintain it properly.
The gap is not too big for debris to go in and at the same time enough to clear the paint from it being scratched during normal driving operations...

I, personally went with OEM guards and don't plan on taking them off; maybe once in a while to give it a good clean...
IMHO Rally Armor just doesn't match the car... (Looks wayyyyy too big, flappy, and just overkill) I used to have a set on my AE86...It does its job, but it looked horrible... lol

I prefer the OEM Mudguards to RallyArmor... those just didn't look right to me. Ordered off of Amazon and install was a breeze. Took me half an hour because I took my time and couldn't figure out the plastic pins at first. Though I didn't drill a hole, per the instructions, but they felt fine. If these ever broke, I can see myself installing these flaps in 5-10 minutes.

They will stay on even without drilling holes?

briang0901 10-19-2012 10:58 AM

What protects the car better from road debris, OEM mud flaps or the Rally Armor mud flaps?

Driving the car rubs grit directly into the paint.

Rayme 10-19-2012 11:54 AM

These comes standard on Canadian models :D. They look real sleek, get the OEM.

I'd say Rally Armor, since it seems it covers more of the bottom/sides. I have a set myself. Just need time to install them before it snows.

Probably won't install till early November. Search the forums. I know a few people have already installed theirs and posted pics.

Tt3Sheppard 10-19-2012 03:34 PM

I picked up mine in Red but feel like they won't suit the car until the snows are on. I'll post some pics once I have them installed since there are no photos of whiteouts with red flaps

briang0901 10-19-2012 04:19 PM

its tough to find a good pic of the mudflaps online especially for a black frs/redflaps

Jayde - Those rally armor mudflaps look great!

Leonardo - How much did you pay for OEM. I paid $59 because it was from Scion dealer and not my Subaru dealer.

Everything is a matter of degree. Pinning grit between a moving surface and paint is pretty poor move though.

arucard77 10-20-2012 10:20 AM

FYI there is a group buy for the rally armors. Check the group buy section!

Maps316 10-22-2012 12:52 AM

I went with the rally armor over oem cause I dont know I though it gave the car more character lol

The rear mudguards require one of the holes to be drilled (out of the 4 total iirc). The mudguards seem pretty solid. I'm sure I can just duct tape it to give it a better 'seal' when winter comes around. The front ones don't need drilling, oddly.

GhostofAkina 10-24-2012 03:38 AM

Do you guys think that the difference in protection warrants the difference in price?

#87 10-24-2012 05:43 AM

How close are the OEM and rally armor to the ground? Rally armor looks pretty low, what happens when you lower and hit bumps? scrape?

Also, is there an easy way to erase the rally armor logo?

Shagaliscious 10-24-2012 07:39 AM

I like the cleaner OEM look.

I think the rally armor mud flaps are reversible. So you can flip them and mount them on the opposite side, so the logo is facing the tire.

Hippophobia 10-24-2012 09:43 AM

I bought Rally Armor flaps black with red on a whiteout. Should be here tomorrow. They are wider than OEM, which is what I need/want. I have 8.5" wheels with 225s and I can hear crap being thrown onto the car.

I used this car for an example. Also, notice he still has about 1-2" of space below them. They should flex over a speed bump.
