Opinions on license plate frame?

Hey guys,

I'm about to start machining some more plate frames and I wanted to make a few for the FT86 crowd. I was thinking about a few generic designs, but I wanted to hear about what other community members might want before I begin cutting metal.

So if I were to make some new designs, what would you guys like to see?

Here's my plate frame and a few I've done for other enthusiasts for reference(sorry, it's a Civic):

A few concept frames I've done so far:

PM you with an Offer

the FR-S one, and "Because race car" are both sexy. Plus it would be an easy way for me to put the model of my car back onto it, but keep it centered (which is why i removed the FR-S from the trunk, unbalanced the aesthetic)

BRZ/ FRS at the top and Because Racecar at the bottom

Gotta go with an 86 one too lik the door panels u did. And if they work well together ill prolly be ditching the one i just bought ;)

Can you make them Without the lower two holes?? They're useless on the BRZ/FRS...and would look so much better without them! If so...Interested!

Indeed!

Definitely an option. Like all of my products, custom engraving will be available so you'll be able to make combinations or do something completely unique if you want.

I figured this would be a popular option. I've already got an 86 version in the works!

Unfortunately, I don't think I can eliminate the two bottom holes, as I use them to hold down the plate frame during the machining process and without them, the plate would vibrate, creating "chatter" marks along the bottom.

I'll discuss the possibility with a machinist friend to see if he knows of any feasible solutions.

An easy fix for the holes is to offer something to fill them like some tiny 86 emblems ;) I think I might have to hit you up and talk about some one off machining and engraving I'd like done.

Count me in. I'd love if you could get permission from the site owners to put ft86club.com on there as well. Big FR-S logo on the bottom and website up top.

Might be a good idea! I'll look into it.

I'll see what I can do about getting an ft86club plate made as well

Can you make one of the "because race car" frames where the machined writing is red in color?

Yeah that would look very sick!
Pretty much everyone would want one, because hey-why have bolts when you can have little 86's :)
I would buy them

Is it possible to get one made without the lower center raised portion? In BC, Canada the lower center is where we put our insurance tag.

Unfortunately that's outside of my skill set. I'm a machinist by trade, but I've had several customers use enamel kits to fill in the engraving with green, blue red, etc. They turn out well but I wouldn't want to offer it myself as I'm not knowledgeable enough in that field to guarantee quality of the enamel etc.

That falls in line with eliminating the bottom holes and having a solid bottom. In the future I will be working on machining a small batch of plate frames with no bottom, and a full bottom with no bolt holes, but that's probably going to take two or three months, as I'm also working on manufacturing a battery tie down for the FR-S right now and that's at the top of my list. I will definitely get some made, though!

Right now I'm looking for engraving options. Because Race Car was popular choice with the Honda crowd, and it's universal. I made an (86) plate frame last weekend so I'll be uploading a few photos of that later tonight as well. Any other options people would like to see?
