Removing writing on front windshield

Does anyone else have this? It is the numbers they write on the car, whenever it rains, I see the numbers. I used windex on windsheild, but its still there. How did you guys get rid of it?

THANKS!

Try some automotive goo gone.

I usually use "professional strength" goof off, looks like this from home depot. Its also good for breaking down double sided tape from emblems. Shoudnt need anything stronger than this on your car. Unless the writing was "etched"

Disclaimer* goo off should never be used on paint. Using goo off on painted panels may result in permanent damage.

I have them too, I only see them when it rains.

When I was a maintenance tech we would call Goof off, The Awesome Sauce...that stuff rocks.

You need a glass stripper. Not a stripper made from glass, but something meant for stripping glass... just to be clear (pun intended).

I used this on my cars and works brilliantly. I also used on old glass shower doors and they looked like new afterwards. It works like waxing the windshield. Apply as if it were a wax, let it dry and take it off with a dry towel. You might need to do it twice.

You should be able to find it at a local autoparts store or even a walmart.

Try lacquer thinner. I have the suction cup marks on my windows, haven't seen the numbers yet.

God this is annoying, I've been been wondering what the hell those suction cup marks on my rear window were. Are they on the inside or outside?

hippari 10-23-2012 03:03 AM

i just imagined the possibility of all these marks being on the inside and everyone wiping with all their might on the outside.

Try claying the windshield, just be sure to use a lubricant such as a detail spray. It will take anything off the glass. It can also be used on the inside too.
