Replacing Axle's in my Elantra

So it's about that time. I turn the wheel in either direction and I hear "click click click click..." so I think my CV joints are toast. Never replaced them before but it can't be that hard right? I watched some video's on youtube and it looks pretty straight forward, although I think I'll need to whip out my air tools for this job.

Anyone have any tips on changing these puppies? I think I'll do my brake pads while I'm in there as well. I was just going to buy some OE replacements as this isn't a performance car. I don't see the need for EBC greenstuff pads lol.

Anyone have any experience with this company? Are these pads decent enough?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Guys, should I replace the ball joints while I'm at it? I don't want to go balls to the wall as I'm only going to have the car until I get the FR-S but I may keep it as a winter commuter. I found ball joints for like $15 a piece, I'm wondering if it's worth it to jut replace those while I have everything disassembled. Any thoughts?

how many miles are on it? if it's high miles and you don't mind the extra cost/work, i say go for it. if it's under 80,000 miles or so, i wouldn't worry about doing the ball joints.

most axles on FWD cars are rather easy to do. i've never done them on an elantra, so i can't give any tips.

good luck! let us know how it turns out. :)

Car has 104k on them. I'm gonna jack up the car tomorrow and test the ball joints to see if they're loose or not. I have to seperate them to replace the axles anyways so I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them but if they are press-fitted in there it may be more of a bitch of I have to remove the control arm
