motul Oil
i changed my stock oil to Motul Oil 0w-20
how often do i have to do an oil change using motul? thx |
Changing the brand of oil doesn't change when you need to do an oil change sooner or later. So at however many miles you normally do your oil change at, keep it the same.

so i can change my motul oil every 5k?
|
Yup. :) Notice a difference with Motul oil compared to factory oil?
EDIT: I just like changing my oil every 5000 miles. Regardless of brand and oil weight. - David |

Your warranty allows you to go to 7,500 miles regardless of what brand you use (as long as it meets the proper specs).
You can also get your oil analyzed to determine if it should be changes sooner. Anything else is pure speculation. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php -Dennis |
Motul 300V normally can last up to 5000km. For 8100, I would say 5000 miles is about right. If you abuse it often, you might wanna consider change it sooner.
|
I wouldn't worry about the oil too much... as most high quality synthetic oils can easily last up to 5,000+ miles.
Just be regular about changing the filter, and topping off the oil level as needed. |
I wouldn't exceed the factor interval to maintain warranty validity.
With that said, we have had Motul oil's checked at blackstone and the results are staggeringly amazing. They told one of our customers it was almost as good as new after almost 4000 miles. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/14...8/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. Was that the new Motul 300V? As far as the OCI, I don't see the point in pushing it past the 3500 mile "severe" call-out in the manual. Severe duty is really much broader than people realize. If you have a 1-5 mile commute, you have severe duty because you never burn off the gas that leaks into the oil, if you drive in a dusty area, if you drive in a hilly area, a lot of stop and go traffic. These can all be considered for the recommended 3500 oci. I believe what I read in the manual for this, especially with a brand new unknown track record engine like this. |

The Motul is good to 7-8k miles in the turbo cars and probably longer in an NA car, however for warranty you always want to make sure to do it on schedule so your warranty isn't effected. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/14...8/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
