 good to know that I can repay you with some beer for the cable. I'll let you know when I pony the money for the license and tune.

What do you guys do with the cable? Is there an ecutek tuner out here? Been wondering about reflashing but there aren't any tuners listed here in Honolulu.

I got one as well! Windward side, Kaneohe

You still would need to buy the license and a tune, lots of choices on the web.

You don't need a shop to do the tuning, you need the cable, a laptop, a license and a ECU file with the new tune on it. Good gains, some say best bang for the buck.

I see. So you just tell someone your list of parts, your gas, and average ambient temperatures and they send you a tuning file?

Where did you get our tune from?

Thanks for answering a newbs' questions. :)

I went with John from Visconti Flash.

I ended up getting the FA20club ecutek Stage 2. I may end up with their turbo setup. If you buy the kit from anyone, they will probably ask you to fill out a form for which fuel you'd like the car to be tuned and what options you'd like (aka flat foot shifting, auto-blip on downshift, launch control, etc).

After that, you'll get something sent via email, you load it up onto your laptop with the ecutek control software, then upload it to your car's ECU. From there, if you're tuner is really cool, they'll ask you to do 3rd and 4th gear 2000 to redline rpm logging, and then they tune that for you.
