Ready to Lower!! - Last minute advice
Well, I have read a ton of stuff on this board. Really T.M.I.
I enjoy driving the FRS as is stock. I go the the track about twice a year, but I drive for fun, not for the best time. This is my daily driver! Most of my driving is city. Roads are OK, but a few bad spots on my daily drive (4 miles each way). My primary reason for lowering is for looks. Not after a slammed look, just more like the car should have looked. I will be getting 18's in the near future. I just plasti dipped my stock wheels and I really like the way they look. Would just like them to sit out a bit (more flush with the fenders. So.. At this point, I am thinking of ordering the Tein Flex coil-overs. From what I have read, these seem to be a good value / performance for me. It seems like the general consensus with lowering springs is that "I wish I bought coil-overs". Also, coil-overs are easier to install and the Tein's have a camber adjustment. These are a little more then I wanted to spend on lowering the car, but I would rather spend a bit more now and be happy. Plan is to install these and put some spacers on the stock wheels. Will probably go to 18 x 8's when I find some that I really like. So any last minute advice would be appreciated. I will support the board sponsors. |
Teins are not a bad at all. Fortune Auto is what we are running on our car right now and just finished a time trial event with yesterday.
Buddy Club racing spec is on the way to us and we have a review coming on those and they fit your bill perfectly IMO as well. |
I am very interested in those as well. What is the longevity of tein on a DD, anybody knows?

Tein builds theirs coils to last 50,000-60,000 miles like most.
Not that will also depend greatly on the use they see. Salt, slamming, track use, bad roads, etc will take their toll so all things to think about long term. |
If you are really interested in just a mild drop and not completely slamming the car to the ground, then I would recommend a good set of springs. Our 1" Drop Sport Springs will give you the exact look you are after, work great even on stock shocks, and still ride very comfortably on your daily commute.
