BRZ standard v premium seats.

Just wondering if anyone out there has a BRZ with the standard cloth seats, and could let me know what you think of them. I am currently torn, should I change my order to upgrade to the leather / alcantara seats? Or is the wait simply making me vulnerable to the marketing?

I have seen both interiors but it was a long time ago and have been unable to compare side by side.

I know this is purely personal preference, but would like to know if anyone has got a BRZ with the standard seats and could give me their opinion? Are you happy with them, or regret you didn't get the upgrade?

Every car I have seen reviewed appear to have the leather seats, so they are rarely mentioned.

Thanks

I was very surprised at the quality of the BRZ cloth, in a good way. The "leather" on both cars is very cheap and the cloth on the 86 is ....

If you don't need leather I think the the BRZ cloth is quite acceptable.

I was in the same position but in the end went with leather, mainly as I have been able to see the standard seats in real life but in pics they seem pretty good, much better then the 86 GTs. Depends if you put any value into the fact that the seats are heated also.

BRZ cloth seats are very nice actually, I sat on the demo one and was pretty surprised.. I went with leather and alcantara because it simply looks much better and its slightly more comfortable IMO

Ive seen the cloth brz and sat in them in mrt's brz
and yeh pretty much prefer cloth over the leather especially when you have passengers with zippers all over their jeans where the leather in my previous car had no chance of surviving :(

Seat warmers. Aaahhhh

Enough said.

I went through the same issue on seeing the leather at my dealers release night.
Spoke to Natalie re upgrading and was told this would delay my order for a couple of months.
Not willing to wait any longer!

Thanks for your comments guys.

I have received an email back from the co-ordinator and they tell me i will not delay my car. Which is scheduled for early December production, i will double and triple check that is the case.

Part of me thinks i should go with my original thoughts, that the base BRZ had all the stuff you need (over the 86 GT). But none of the stuff you don't. This is not a luxury car, so why would i get / need leather? Heated (heavier?) seats in Sydney? really

But the other half is thinking that i may regret it if i don't opt for the leather, and it will look much better with the galaxy blue i am getting, and the other leather bits in the interior.

are the cloth/alacantara seats in the 86 different to the brz?

I was under the impression that the cloth variants were different but the alacantara seats were the same.

I reckon this is solid thinking. I changed my 86 order to a BRZ when I found out I could basically get a GTS with cloth. I don't like leather seats. And also the stuff you said. :)

Had I not ordered my 86 already before the BRZ was able to be ordered, I would have thought about doing this too. But given the even longer waiting times for the BRZ, the scales would probably tip towards the 86 for most people imo, regardless of the cost/feature differences.

The wait is what's killing us!

Well I ended up making the decision, to do the upgrade.
I spoke to the lovely Natalie, and she assured me my delivery time would not be affected.
Also, the fact that i was thinking about this a lot, probably means that i wanted to do it. This will be the first (and likely last) new car i will own, and based on the fact that the savings are coming on nicely and this is basically a reward for being a tight arse in the past. I just decided to do it. Would i have been disappointed in the standard seat? No. But these will give me a little wow factor.

So if you have a BRZ on order, you CAN change it without losing you place in the line. Good thing cos i hear the line is 14 months now. Ouch.
