*Decals* Greater Vancouver Area Local Decal Ideas Thread

Alright you photoshop wiz! Remember going down Main street or No.3 Road seeing another FR-S/BRZ but don't know if they are on the board??

Well, we've got a solution! We will design our own local decals for us living in the area and hand these out during meets...

Lets brainstorm some ideas and make this happen. Once we get enough designs, we will start a poll and vote for the best... When we all decided which one to go with we will send the design off to someone who can cut the vinyl stickers out.

*Update*

Ladies and gentlemen,

For all those who are living locally in the GVA (Greater Vancouver Area)... Voting is now completed,
thank you for all your votes!
Design #15 has been chosen as our local decals. #15 has been revised and simplified for easier printing and for a more sleeker/professional look.

Our goal here was to create a decal that are very low in profile; easy to recognize by members; stylish; and best of all, that are created and designed by one of your fellow local members!

...And here they are!

Official License Plate Frame for Vancouver! Boast about our awesome community and cars!

Try to make a line drawing or stroke art out of your avatar pic.

Rear quarter view with smoke and the distinctive tail light.

Maybe?

I will try that. Not the best photoshopper here, but I will try. :bellyroll:

Maybe a little too much detail hmm?...

truenosan 10-14-2012 02:45 AM

Just some food for thought. Make sure it is ok with the admins on this site to use their name. I know I ran into that issue on the Subaru forums when we used Nasioc's name.

For the logo, how about an outline of the FRS/BRZ from the side, and then the club name on the bottom. (I know this design has been used like a million times, but I think it fits best, considering how small our non-existent rear glass is.

Kinda; but don't get me wrong, I like it too...

Just don't want to copy the same idea off another member on here, if you know what I mean.

Shimmyshake 10-14-2012 04:30 AM

I actually really like the ones that Cali guys use. I wouldn't mind using that one but for the " GVA Owners Club"

Do you do the VIC stickers? I bought some two years ago and remember that they just say Vancouver Subaru Club.

What was Nasioc's main complaint when you used their name? Vendor status? Profiting from Nasioc's intellectual property  ? Or just that you didn't ask? Because you would think promoting the site for free would be a good thing.

I didn't do the VIC stickers. If memory serves me correctly, they weren't allowed to be posting it up, as Nasioc had their own stickers, and I don't think the guy was profiting from the sales of the stickers, but obviously nothing went back to website as far as I know.

Got permission guys. It's a "Go-ahead" for us!

Quote:

Hi David,

Thank you for properly asking for permission. Yes, that would be fine.

Looking forward to seeing the decals!

Hachiroku

Personally i'd prefer simple and small. As mentioned something wider then tall, so it can go along the bottom of a window frame without standing out. I don't want it to be noticed unless someone in the know is looking for it. I personally don't like having stuff on the car that stands out. Thanks to everyone who's been working on this, and I look forward to the finished products :).

Also was curious who you guys were going to have do the decals.

dark.star has someone who can do it, but if you have someone else you may know that can do it for us, let us know!

If we can't come up with anything original it sounds like you will be the choice.

Here's my version 2. Slightly more detail on the car and added the mountains. Text goes in the smoke (or water spray from the rain, heh...). Absolute limit of my artistic skill. I know there are better designers out there.

Very cool concept! If anyone would like to make it into a PSD file...that would be awesome!... I will try to do one, but everyone else is free to join in!

FT86 with Vancouver's skyline!

Lol, looking more like a T-shirt design than anything...

Mr.Jay 10-15-2012 01:13 AM

I'd like something a bit more simple as well

I'm usually a no stickers kind of guy or stickers out of sight (under hood) but for this club I'll throw one on

truenosan 10-15-2012 02:17 AM

That would make a great t-shirt design for like an annual bbq that we could host next year :w00t:

New member from Vancouver here!
A long time lurker but I never posted because I won't be buying the car until next year. But then I saw this thread today and I thought it's an interesting project so I drew something up!

These are really good!

autolismo 10-16-2012 12:00 AM

The white area is the actual decal and the inside is empty so if you stick it on a window with tinted glass it will look black inside.

http://imageshack.us/a/img87/667/scr...21015at755.png

JW89225 10-16-2012 01:26 AM

I prefer something smaller. Couple letters with maybe a tiny graphic. Total size around the size of a standard ruler? It would look cleaner on people's side window without being too flashy. That way, it won't attract random attention but people in the know will definitely catch it.

Dimman 10-16-2012 01:36 AM

@autolismo, maybe make the car graphic the same height as the text and put the text on the right to make it the long and short shape people seem to want?

autolismo 10-16-2012 02:21 AM

The size now is approximately 4" x 1".
I took out some of the details for the bottom one because I am afraid the black lines is too thin to show.

http://imageshack.us/a/img145/6969/s...21015at101.png

Mr.Jay 10-16-2012 02:56 AM

Hey decal looks good I would rock that

btw I believe I bought led dome light from you a while back when I had a ek hatch

I like it! Can we try it with the font that I used for my other ones? I just want to see how it would look with those.
The font is called "Razer Regular"

Try this link: http://www.22pixels.com/download/razer_regular_font

If it does not work; give me a msg, I will send you the file.

Cool what's your name?
I am still in the LED business haha.
BTW I see your car all the time on Tyne since I live in the neighbourhood.
Your car is actually the first one I have seen when it came out!
Looking sharp with all the mods!

I like the profile shot of the first one.
Good idea to show the headlights only.
I didn't want to draw the front because it is different between the 2 cars but you solved that problem!

BioRage 10-16-2012 04:25 PM

Why don't you guys just make your own local forum board?

Just saying.
