Found a picture of my car (that I took) in an ebay ad

Browsing through the pages of Scion FR-S related items for sale on ebay this evening and recognized one of the cars in an ad. It's MINE! A picture that I took and posted here on this forum. Should I be upset or flattered?

Actually their product?

This happened to my brother all the time in the M3 community. About once a year some random would join the forum and post pictures of my brother's car claiming it was his.

Not even close. He's selling "bright white" LED bulbs but pointing to the clear JDM side marker lenses in my picture.

I guess my question is, should I ask him to stop using my picture or just let it go? I've got a nice, respectful email typed up, just haven't hit 'send' yet.

I say, threaten him that you will file a case on eBay unless he supplies you unlimited quantities of LED!

JoeBoxer 10-12-2012 11:53 PM

Yeah i would ask for compensation for using the pic, he will probably just steal somebody else's though there are lots of them now.

The way I see it the seller is effectively making money off of a photo you took so yeah go ahead and send the email. The seller should either pay you some royalties for the privilege of using your photo to sell his products or take his own damn photo.

its the internet so there likely is some sort of free domain thing going on. its probably in your best interest to watermark your pics from now on

I would tell him to stop then. At this point he is pushing fraudulent products.

TuxedoCartman 10-12-2012 11:59 PM

Tell him to take it down, or be prepared to compensate you right now.

:word: If you upload any pics to any site; chances are it will show up on search engines as well...ex. Google, Yahoo...

Like they say; once it's uploaded into the interweb, it will NEVER disappear.

Don't talk to him, talk to EBay. The guy is fraudulent, they are the only people in a position to do anything.

And he has 99.6% good feedback ...mmm

It's even on an Amazon site as well... Under the same username.

Try Googling keyword "White Side Marker Scion FR-S"; you will see your picture there as I mentioned above... XD
