Curse of the Twins, or Bad drivers...
So, all i see is that there are FR-S/BRZ's getting wrecked and totaled out of every corner in the world. Now, i know that there is no responsibility for someone else hitting you or just something random falling on your car, but seriously. How many people drive their new FR-S/BRZ is their first car? It seems that the people wrecking their cars in ditches, curbs, and whatnot seem to be newbish at driving. Why do you insist on trying to show off how much you do not know how to drive? How many of you that have experience HAVE wrecked your cars by showing off YOUR driving skills? What do you all think about this?

The car is ridiculously easy to handle once the rear end gets loose, and gives the driver a lot of feedback well before anything happens. I'm sure for the most part it's bad drivers or the wanting to show off to their friends that is causing it. You don't hop a curb and run into a building by driving normal, that's the honest truth.
For those of you that have never driven RWD, keep traction control ON! It's that simple. If you want to learn the limits of your car and how to properly handle it when the rear steps out on you, go to a track day or a drift event or autox that will allow you to hone your skills in a safe controlled environment. Otherwise you're just going to look like another one of these dudes smashing their car into an inanimate object. |
THANK YOU GOD! SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! lol
|
that's why when i get it, i plan on finding a big empty lot and figuring out exactly what the car and myself can handle

Also, we get news almost instantly here at FT86Club (or the internet in general), so it may seem like a lot of cars, but in reality, 20 cars out of the many thousands that are already driving around, just in America, really isn't that much.

Well, you know if it would happen to a TT 6spd hardtop supra, you would be flaming too lol. Its just there's too many going down...

It's called confirmation bias. You expect to see a lot of wrecks given the marketing and target demographic of this car, so you not only think you see more wrecks than there really are, but also automatically ascribe irresponsible driving as the cause to every single one of them. If you wanted to see a new sports car that had a disproportionately high wreck ratio when it was new, you should have seen when the WRX first hit the states. Nobody knew how to drive symmetrical all-wheel drive, and when coupled with a gearbox made of glass, saw a lot of ruined Scoobies those first few years. |
Guff is right. The bad will always stand out more than the good, but in reality we've lost less than one percent of these cars so far. I don't know the stats, but I'm betting quite a few cars get wrecked every day, and I'm sure the stat exists per second. It's unavoidable. People will always post the wrecks. If they did the same for not wrecking, you'd have a couple thousand posts a day that all say, "Didn't wreck my car today." And maybe 1 every other week of, "Wrecked it." If even that.
