which one?!
hello all
i been watching the fr-s (ft-86) and i been really liking this car a lot and just resently i got a good deal and idk if i should take it a 240sx 91 but blown engine with an extra new one.. lol i like drifting and only light, rwd, small cars 240 is 2600lb and idk i really want both :bonk: then again maybe i can... so i can compare  what should i do? |
It really depends on what you want. 240s can be had cheap, and they can be pricey in great shape. Neither will be as pricey as an FR-S But the FR-S will not need bushings, etc as soon as the 240, etc.
Financially, if the 240 is running it's an obvious choice. If you really plan on drifting the car then you will hit something eventually, which also makes the 240 a better choice, however most "drifters" I meet don't actually drift.. |
this thread really doesn't need to be in the general section
|
Nobody should buy an FR-S or BRZ. That way I can walk into the dealer, offer $5k below invoice, and walk out with whichever one I want :D

buy a cheap 240sx, dumb a nasty motor into it, swap the front clip for a silvia s14, and use the fr-s as a DD/toy car for windy roads
|
I'll take the FR-S. Its almost impossible to find a 240sx around here that hasn't been driven into the ground.
|
well i just bought it been sittin for over a year ha doesnt run yet =D
|
Yea man just get both, the FT86 for daily driving and the 240sx as a weekend queen.(LOL) and get an SR20DET engine swap redtop motor for your 240sx and that baby will fire right up if u wire everything properly.

Other car, BRZ.

If I were you I'd save up my money and buy an FRS/BRZ. As DAVE-ROR said, most "drifters" dont really drift and the ones i have met drift once in awhile. So it really depends on how often you plan to "drift" while you have the 240.
I've heard that 240s (like any 20yr old car) can get pricey to fix up for grip/drift and since you're asking us which is better it sounds like you're worried about finances. So thats why i'd stick with getting the FRS/BRZ. |
Is this your only car? Does it need to be reliable? The best I could tell you is it's almost never a good idea to daily drive a project in progress.
