Camaro ZL1 laps the ring in 7:41.27

I'm thoroughly impressed that GM managed to skew the hp:handling ratio enough to make their precious ugly duckling go fast on the straights of nurburgring. Imagine if it didn't wear the 4200lbs of GM bloat, oh the possibilities. :iono:

I'm not suprised the ZL1 is pretty much a ZR1 suspension and traction control and ride control in a Carmaro

aren't they making a very low number of those? like under the 500 mark maybe?

I remember reading that this will be limited but the still expected to sell numbers like the GT500 does for the Mustang

Also remember GM saying something like the expect more than half the order for ZL1 to be for auto trannys

GT500 has already been confirmed to be getting an updated 5.8 SC V8 good for somewhere little north of 600hp

What an awesome time we live in... Camaros and Mustangs putting down supercar numbers. I'm not big on Ring times (with all the long straight sections it's easy for a car with terrible handling to get a good time), but this is really a nice car.

Meanwhile, rented Vettes can't stay on the ring.

Actually, *correction* privately owned customized vettes get run into by ring taxi's in multi-car pileups while slowing down for multi-car pileups that were causes by irresponsible construction companies.

As evidenced in the video at the link above (can we please have a video posting tutorial) after about 9 minutes of pits navigation and engine swapped bmw e30 hooning, you can see the beginning of the wreck and the second part, involving the vette, as it happens, and then soon after... the construction site that caused it all just so they can repair a guardrail on the inside of a high speed nontechnical corner after a blind 120mph straightaway
