Test fitted my old Volkswagen 15" AVUS wheels which I will hopefully be running for the winter. Everything fit on fine, however I did not try driving it around to check for rubbing or any other issues.
The wheels are painted black so they are a bit difficult to see in the picture, but heres one anyway.

Interesting. Can you determine the wheel width and offset?

I hope you found Ball seat lug nuts, the VW came with ball seat lug bolts, if you put the oem lug nuts on those wheels you could have a safety issue.

That is why I haven't been able to drive around with them to fully check for rubbing issues. In the pic I had just bolted them up with the stock lugs, took some pics, and swapped them back.

If anyone knows a source for some ball-seat 12x1.25 lug nuts, I'd like to hear it.
There are some nice 16" BBS VW rims for sale nearby, and I'd love to run them during winter.

very interesting....I may just have to try my corolla's 15" tires on my car after seeing this.

I tried some 15x6.5 wheels and the ball-joint on the tie-rod rubbed. Some narrow 15" might work. Like 15x5.

Perhaps the offset has something to do with it?

*edit* also these are narrower... they're 15x6

woah good info guys! And I thought 16's were the absolute smallest we could down size to.

Update us on the rubbing or any other issues ASAP if you can.
I have access to these wheels for basically free and would like to use them if possible. What size tires did you have on them?

Compared to the stock 17x7 with +48 offset vs the 15x6 with +38 offset.... They're should be 23mm MORE clearance inside and 3mm Retracted outside "suck"

Hopefully OP will verify but this SHOULD mean an Avus wheel is a-ok :D

Yeah... I only put the wheels on that one side, again it was just test fitting after drinking a few beers and getting bored. I have not driven around with these on and I wont be able to until I find some lugs that work for it. If anyone has a source please let me know.
