0-60 in GT5

This video is from the GT5 booth that was setup for test driving the FT86 at the Tokyo Motor Show.

After an epic spin out, he's stopped dead. Despite having to turn 90 degrees to miss a wall and then some serious swerving, he still hits 100kph (60mph) in about 6.5 seconds. Discuss.

Also, the car is shifting at what I'm assuming is the fuel cutoff: 8.5k RPM :D

Other than the fact that he sucked, pretty good vid. I don't really think we can take anything from that regarding the real thing but it's cool to discuss it I suppose. :iono:

Other than the player sucked at least we can tell from that video that the FT86 will have a mos green color, when he crashed on the first corner You can see a white and a mos green looking FT86 crashing in to him.

I seen in another video, there is a yellow (well semms to me like a mix between high yellow and mustard) a white, silver. For me, I can dig yellow as thats the color of my current ride.

Well I hope they are all 86's as I'm watching on youtube through my phone. (Cant get you the link at the moment, will do as soon as I get to a pc though)

I agree, man that was some horrid driving, he literally crashed into every corner

Here is the vid I saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqOmuF36_Fw <----

at about 57 seconds in you notice a yellow ft, and ahead of that a white one also, I couldnt tell what colors had passed while she was exiting the pitstop, but I'm almost certain I saw another shade of yellow also.

Thoughts?

And I'd say she did a bit better than the guy :)

S2KtoFT86 11-26-2009 09:05 AM

Wow, it looks like bumper cars. GT5 looks horrible. Yes I said it, but as far as the colors, I saw a yellow proper as she is exiting the pits and then the white, and the other "yellow" you mentioned looked like an orange to me. :iono:

How can you take anything of video quality from that clip? Have you ever even played Prologue? That clip makes the game look more like GT3.

Yeah, something tells me this is all of GT5 you've ever seen.

S2KtoFT86 11-26-2009 02:18 PM

Yeah, I played GT Prologue for all of about 4 hours or so and then it was just like every other single GT. I then promptly picked up FM2 and haven't looked back at all. I can pick up something from that video, bouncing off a rail with no damage and looking like a bumper car. Absolutely horrible. Real racing sim my ass. If Prologue was any indication of what's to come, Polyphony has miles to go to catch FM3. Sure FM has it's faults too but come on, no damage? Don't you incur damage when really racing? I thought so.

lol @ you. great job comparing a VERY limited simulator at an auto show to a full release game. :laughabove: just wait for the full version of GT5 to come out. you might end up inserting your foot into your mouth.

back to the topic, i think a 6.5 second 0-60 time seems reasonable. i'm hoping that's accurate and that toyota/subaru have given polyphony more info than they have thus far given to us.

No, read what I said again. I played Prologue around 4 hours and it was just stale. I guess that's what you get for a glorified demo. I'll stick with Forza because of the enormous amount of user generated content that is available. GT is just the same, iteration after iteration. You can only continue to add cars for so long.

NESW20 11-26-2009 08:48 PM

oh, i got that you played prologue, but the main point of your post seemed to be based off the motor show demo with the ft86. mostly the part about damage. i would HARDLY call the damage in FM "realistic." in case you aren't aware, they are considering damage in GT5. only "considering" because if they include it, they have stated they want it to be as realistic as possible (they might have used the word "perfect"). the lighting effects, driving physics, and car models are all superior in the GT series. every single time i play FM, it seems cartoony and fake. it's definitely not by any means the worst console racing "sim," but IMO, it is certainly not the best. i would much rather a game studio concentrate on the important stuff for people who are actually competent at driving the cars without hitting stuff than try to appease the less-skilled by giving flashy damage graphics... :sigh:

the full release of GT5 is due out around March. i am confident that it will be a superior product.
