OKADA PROJECTS PLASMA DIRECT
was part browsing on japanparts.com and came across this part.
http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_d...=&SEARCH_page= It is an ignition coil system with better this and better that apparently and a hefty price tag. Was wondering if anyone has ever used anything of the sorts on previous cars and actually got any benefits from them??:iono: |
Always wondered about these things, but I really can't imagine they're worth that price.
Especially on this car where simply getting to the plugs is a job in itself. |
I have a customers car with those on his NA 350z, pretty pointless.
|
It kinda works... but it sure in hell not "bang for a buck"

Don't have experience with those but with the HKS DLI on my supra, it helped alot when you start making power.. So with that said, I dont think you will notice much improvement on NA but may get rid of breaking up on FI cars
|
Had BHR ignition coils on the Rx8 and it improved gas mileage from the SUV 16 mpg to around 22 and also felt smoother. IDK about the FA20 but for rotaries the upgraded ignition coils definately helped
|
The Subaru ignition systems are usually pretty good, and almost no one changes them in the WRX/STi world, even at big horsepower levels. There are certainly much better bang for the buck modifications you can do. I have seen them give positive results but you are talking 15whp on a car making 420whp.
|
Beside the cost, I think you won't be able to install them without dropping the motor a bit.

Here is a review in the XaCAR 86&BRZ Japanese magazine: http://okadaprojects.com/wp-content/...7_20150310.pdf
Can anyone provide a summary of the following part? http://i65.tinypic.com/rwm2c9.jpg |
that and grounding it properly will do something, one of the guys on here in Australia I think is running it. But it is more something that is useful after a bunch of other stuff, kind of like upgraded fuel injectors are only useful with massive boost.
|
I remember when multiple ground wire spark plugs were considered a gimmick. Somehow they became standard equipment. I like mods I can feel. I don't drive on a dyno
