Installing BRZ seat heaters into FR-S seats
I tried to search and nothing came up so...
I am intrested in installing the BRZ's OEM heating pads, switches, and power circuits into a set of FR-S seats. I've owned cars with seat heaters for the past 12 years an I can already tell not having them in the FR-S is going to drive me crazy. Is anyone here looking into doing this. Would it be eaiser (and cheaper) just to go aftermarket? |
It would have been cheaper to buy a BRZ and then transform it into an Fr-s, then to transform an FR-s into a BRZ.

I have a premium brz and was thinking about doing this. I feel like this shouldn't be too expensive to do.

This is such a new car that this will be the first winter with it. Most who want to try might be waiting for someone to blaze the trail (so to speak)... |
I read in another post where a member said his parts department told him they could do the install for heated seats on a premium. Let me know what parts you end up needing so I can also look into doing this.

;) :D BTW I agree with you: heated seats ftw and they should offer the option on the FR-S |

Much easier and cheaper to use one of these:
Rostra I've had them in any cars and work great...the brz switches look as cheap as these so no worries, or mount them out of sight |
Update...
Some of what I've learned so far. First in the Subaru parts system there's a difference between the "Base Spec" BRZ seat heaters vs. a "High Spec" Differences between the two are the seat bottom part numbers. The seat backs between the two are specs are the same (all of the parts listed here are for the base spec). Could someone who knows chime in and explain the difference between the two?
The second thing I learned is that the heating elements are actually embedded within seat foams themselves so these part numbers are for new seat foams, not just heating pads. Driver's side seat bottom 64120CA020 $144 Driver's side seat back 64130CA020 $153 Passenger's side seat back 64130CA000 $95.74 The passenger side seat bottom part number was missing but I think it would be 64120CA000 if it followed the same numbering scheme... The third thing I've learned is that there are different part numbers between the drivers and passenger side switches. Driver's side switch 83075FA011 $83.12 Passenger side switch 83075FA001 $66.15 For some strange reason all of the drivers side stuff appears to be more expensive. More to come... |
