Seat belt chime delete?? Anyone
Guys i just swapped my stock seats with Status Ring GT-X. I had no problem switching over my seat belt buckle from my stock drivers seat to the status seat. I took the stock seat wire and transferred it over so the car has no problem reading that my seat belt is on. While trying to do this to my passenger seat i noticed that it has a seat belt + weight sensor attached to the seat belt buckle. I could not see a way to transfer it over to the status seat and now every time i drive the car it will beep for about 3 minutes and then shut up. Is there a way to disable the seat belt alarm? Im about to put in a roll bar and harnesses so my stock seat belts will be pretty much useless and i don't want to have that noise.
Please help thanks in advance. |
I just had my dealer turn off the chime. They can access it through their computer. I still have the seat belt light come on in the dash, but no noise.

UPDATE:
went to dealer, they said they can't turn it off because it's a safety hazard.... couldn't find a DIY on it... *sigh* |
Low key, if you take out the instrument cluster, there should be a speaker you can literally pop off. At least that's how it was in my old corolla, I'll prolly check it out I'm the morning and let you guys know

I was playing around in my company car today. I just shoved a key into the buckle to make sure the lock mechanism was in place. It takes off the fasten seat belt icon on the guage. Might help? Haven't tried it on my BRZ yet

this wouldn't work either? |
You can do it yourself.:party0030:
With a cable and software called TECHSTREAM Just for some info, but a lil research and you'll find what you need. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14629 |
Techstream cost money for a subscription . Techs at work buy a cable and a "lite" version for 1k i thought.
|
Just went to the dealer and they shut the chime off as well :)
|
can they make it so that the airbag light does not come on with aftermarket seats?
|
You can buy the cable for $15 on eBay, and run the TechStream software on a Windows XP machine (or VMWare). The option to disable the seat sensor is there. I did it myself when I installed heated seats. It also disables the airbag light from coming on.

Could it been done with the Openflash Tablet?

Does doing all this still allow the airbag to deploy if you crash?
I doubt insurance would cover medical for a passenger if you modified the car for the airbag to not deploy. |

You can turn off the seatbelt ding/chime with a smartphone app called Carista and an OBDII bluetooth adapter. (You should be running one of these adapters anyway to monitor vitals like oil temp, read/reset codes, etc.)
Carista is "free" and reads codes, does some monitoring, but if you want to change factory settings like those seat chimes, Daytime Running Light on/off, one-press unlock all doors, etc, you have to pay $10 in the app to unlock it all. After that get the Torque app to monitor vitals and all kinds of cool stuff. |

I was about to purchase the Carista app but found instructions to do it using a terminal app like hyper terminal or putty (I used putty). I got the instructions on a prius forum but I can confirm that it worked for my 2014 FR-S. I did this last night actually. You need an ELM327 to USB cable (had one laying around but they can be found on ebay fairly cheap). The instructions on the other forum said to set the baud rate to 115200 but I could only get it working at 38400. Try different baud rates if you see gibberish when you type.
Enter the following commands: AT SH 7c0 (hit 'Send') Returns: OK 21a7 (hit 'Send') Returns: 61 AC C0 (meaning beep enabled) 3ba700 (hit 'Send') 21a7 (hit 'Send') Returns: 61 AC 00 (meaning beep disabled) That's it! The driver's side seat belt warning won't beep anymore (I haven't tested the passenger side, but I imagine there's a separate command for that). I believe the settings cycle so if you wanted to re-enable it, I imagine you'd just have to re-enter the same commands again, but don't quote me on that as I haven't tested it. You could probably follow these instructions on an android device if you have a bluetooth OBD2 adapter and a terminal app. I have an iPhone and couldn't find an app that would let me send commands. |
I checked and can confirm the steps in the above post also disables the passenger seat belt chime

This needs to be easier to find as I looked forever for console level code to work with. Thanks again, Happy (Chime Free) FRS Owner :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: |
