wouldn't it be greedy to try and buy an FR-S if you can't actually afford it?

who says he cant afford it because they are being shady on a trade in?

just cause one finances does not mean they cant afford it. if you don't want to wait and save up the money yourself you pay for that privilege depending on your credit score.

now if you have even the slightest reason for not being able to make your monthly payments then yea thats pretty shady/irresponsible to still try.

as for op goes... they are almost always shady and you can almost always do better yourself. unless you know the car has issues or soon will then you dont want to sell it yourself cause it could come back on you. for the first time ever a dealer actually offered me KBBV on a trade in... and that was scion trading in my magnum for the FR-S

they always shady with trade in, better off selling on craigslist lol

Neziah 10-05-2012 08:45 PM

You are always better off selling your old vehicle yourself.

What car did you try to trade in and how much they offered? Just curious how bad it was.

remorse87 10-05-2012 10:59 PM

09 1500 silverado 27k miles 4x4 z71 package. 26k on kbb and nada. my payments are 638 a month for the car it would be 391.... so ya money isnt the issue. and they offered me 22300 for my truck.

why do people always assume shit?

whitefrs 10-05-2012 11:29 PM

Quoted for stone-chiseled truth.

I could afford to pay for an FR-S with a $3k markup and with my original quote for my trade-in. I decided I could do better. It has nothing to do with being able to afford it. I got another dealer without markup and haggled for an extra $1500 on my trade.

ya I've started to look around in the surrounding area but everything is so far away! Advantage of being stationed out in the middle of no where

That has nothing to do about affording the car or not.... I make a good amount of money but that doesn't mean I'm just going to give it away..

Btw a frs is less than $30k, car is cheap. Obviously with some of the members here most with a job can buy one. Try paying $100k + for cars.

I traded in my 2008 Nissan Altima the dealer was only going to give me $7000 but if I sold it on my own I could run it through the dealership to save on the Tax. I made 1 call and sold my Altima for $17000.

I'm not sure if you have CarMax in North Dakota, but go get a trade in quote from them before you go find another FR-S. You can use their trade in quote to negotiate what Scion will give you. I got $11,000 for a 2006 Nissan 350Z with 77K mi. in pretty good condition. KBB was $11,500.
