For US owners, we need more than those wires

Capstan 10-05-2012 01:14 PM

Yeah seems like you would need entirely new mirror mounts with motors in them, etc. But I'm not sure why anyone would bother in the US. Those things are for places like Japan where the streets are frequently incredibly narrow.

Power folding mirrors are also ridiculously heavy as well.

This is standard on Australian models I believe :)

If you ever park in a parallel lot and find your mirror smashed or hanging by the wires, you will know why these are important.

...totally unnecessary on this car if you cannot parallel park this car, you can't drive, and if the spot is too narrow for this car with mirrors extended....its TOO NARROW...

Only vehicle i have ever wanted or used power folding mirrors is HD trucks ie F250-F450 2500HD's ETC

I had a mirror smashed on my 300zx (the sotck power ones failed and no longer went in :( ). Was some over developed cumshot in a 4x4 parked next to me. I was SO PISSED!

Once I calmed down, I decided it was time to replace them with Ganador mirrors and have not regretted that decision in the slightest :)

Well, in our case, our garage is pretty tight so folding up the mirrors makes it easier for us to get around the cars. And instead of manually doing it every time, the new Kia Optima we have does it with the push of a button and it has proved pretty useful. But since my car is parked outside, it never really matters. So it just depends...

Or you could just fold them the gold old fashioned manual way.

FYI, the op is only fold when you turn on the alarm.

The ones you want is OEM power folding mirror kit ;)

#1 Parallel park != parallel parking lot, i can't balance my car on the side to get more room

#2 My spot is $100 a month, next alternative is $600 and doesn't look any bigger

#3 The mirrors are often hit when someone in a minivan/suv backs up since they don't even look at them, they are avoiding the car (and often miss if you look at the forum) or they get snagged by coats/purses/backpack straps, folding gives you just a little bit more room for stupid to get out without taking a piece of your car with them
