Myth, or Fact? Thought? If proven, which brands to consider after first oil change? I am slowly creeping up on 1k :thumbup:

I use full synthetic for peace of mind, as really, that is all that matters.

You should be using 100% Synthetic, a full synthetic can use 99% conventional oil with 1% synthetic. Play it safe and get 100% Synthetic, your motor will last longer and better.

Most in the lubrication industry consider synthetic a marketing term. The owner's manual does not define synthetic either.

Don't be in a rush to change your oil.

I agree, the term "synthetic, especially in North America is purely a marketing term. If you are thinking you are getting any of what you think might be any historically conventional synthetic baseoil like PAO(poly alpha olephin) baseoil there is no guarantee that you will find it by relying on the word synthetic. You have to know that the product would be including Group IV baseoil for that, and it is unlikely that info will be shared in any publicly available product literature. Besides, the important part is how the product performs not what it is made from! Much of the publicly available product literature actually only provides basic marketing/technical information and minimal information regarding capabilities other than the basic properties and engine oil standards it meets or exceeds. If you are unfamiliar with the particulars of the standards and the details of how a product technically performed relative to those standards it is hard to truely judge the performance of one product relative to another.
