can we get rid of this? I feel like many guys post shit for no reason adding really no value to a thread just to increase this.

There will always be post count whores. Removing the count won't change anything. People will always post useless crap. It's still good sometimes to see seniority, and sometimes it may show those people that actually know what they are talking about the car.

Anyways, I agree with chutrain; it does show the user's contributions to the forum community as well as showing some seniority status.

You can always tell if a person is just a "post count whore" or a top contributor by the quality and construction of their posts...

I agree that it doesn't matter, but it also doesn't show seniority or knowledge. All it shows is how many posts someone makes. Seniority can be shown by join date. Knowledge is not an easy metric for web servers to identify.

removing the post count will derail the post count whores.

people will always post useless crap but if your remove more of their purpose then it tends to decrease.

seniority can be seen through join date. post count toward this is irreverent.
also because someone has 1000 posts vs 100 posts doesn't mean they know what they are talking about.


I've been on forums with both PC and without it. Just making a suggestion that we could probably do without it unless there is a awesome reason as to keep it that I cannot fathom right now.

user contributions can be seen through thanks count. seniority I commented above.

You're right, but just to be fair; a person who has 1000 posts are more likely to know more about that specific vehicle even though he doesn't know sh*t mechanics of how it works compared to a newcomer who is a mechanic but doesn't know what the vehicle has to offer for them.

On serious note, 1000 posts doesn't mean they contributed? To certain point, I do agree... BUT I will not agree w you 100%. Where were you when this car came to the light in TIAS and this forum pop up in Oct '09 & posting your excitement? Where were you, keeping this forum alive when there weren't ANY solid info, pics, & specs for over 3 months (AWD, Turbo BS), but keep posting in the forum everyday? Where were you when our boss uploading first Scion FR-S concept were showing at NYIAS and pushing F5 like a crazy til F5 button got stuck and thanking him? Where were you, when we ask our boss to get down on his knee to take some photo under the car and had several pages of debate if that concept car had engine in there?

Yes, now we have the car and have crap load of info and whatever we want. BUT for some old timer, those pointless &/or off-topic stuff was battle scare to keep this forum best and active 86 forum from 2009! That's why our boss put his effort to make this forum better than any other 86 forum (so I hope anyways).

Now, if our boss keep the post count on or off, it doesn't matter to me. I'll always be post whore and always be 86/FRS/BRZ holic, so...
