Safety feature. It only goes away when the car is rolling faster than 1 or 2 MPH. This might be able to be disabled through the setup menu that I posted in another thread about being able to access.

Yes I get this all the time and it's so frustrating. I also am unable to browse my phone's contacts when it is like that. I find that sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the phone will fix it but it's really unreliable.

Also I have the Canadian head unit and I don't know if it is exactly the same one as ind the US.

This has nothing to do with the reliability of your Bluetooth connection. When the headunit senses that the vehicle is in motion, it locks out certain features of the phonebook and dialer so you (in theory) pay more attention to the road. This is a liability issue for in car entertainment system manufacturers, so they put in this nanny "feature" so we don't kill ourselves.

No.. I'm still trying to figure out how to access the factory setup screens.

Every touchscreen head unit that I have come into contact with in the wild has a diagnostics menu.. it's just a matter of getting to it.
