New Vortech Supercharging System Information...

Hey guys, I think those of you who come out to 86Fest this weekend might be able to find out some new information on a certain system from a prominent Supercharging company. ;) Just sayin'...

MVJ1975 10-04-2012 03:12 PM

I'm all ears... hopefully we'll hear it here too.

JoeBoxer 10-04-2012 03:17 PM

Tease...

We aren't all in SoCal i would gladly come if i wasn't so far away and flying out just wouldn't be the same without having my car there.

raz0rbladez909 10-04-2012 03:18 PM

Oh you tease! lol I can't wait for Sunday! Will you at least be pursuing CARB Certification, since the smog nazi's hate anything aftermarket out here?

catharsis 10-04-2012 03:44 PM

I know vortech is a well known company but don't they strictly do centrifugal supercharged set ups? I would love to see someone step up to the plate with a roots style blower.

KGFRS86 10-04-2012 04:01 PM

Can't wait for this Sunday!!! I'll also be taking tons of pictures. :-P

King Tut 10-04-2012 04:23 PM

Most important thing I want to know is what are they using for engine management? I'm not sure that photos at 86Fest are going to tell me that. Are they using the Split Second piggyback?

The Vortech System will be a centrifugal system, utilizing a new compressor stage designed specifically for the 2.0L Boxer engine. Although we have both types of compressors at our disposal, a centrifugal supercharger lends itself much better to an engine of this type. We are confident everyone will be extremely pleased with what we bring to the table.

Can't spill the beans just yet, but rest assured it is a very capable & well recognized solution that we all will be happy with.

Z0rr0 10-04-2012 05:01 PM

Vortech is on ECUTek's list as a tuner. So i would assume that's what they are using.

Jeff86 10-04-2012 05:08 PM

Great to see this! I'm very anxious to see the Vortech offering!

Tansey86 10-04-2012 05:12 PM

With turbo kits at $5500, you'd have to price a centrifugal at 3000 to get me to even think about it over a turbo.

Tradewind 10-04-2012 05:28 PM

Take the cameras people and bring back the eye candy

A centrifugal boosted Intercooled SC system - sweet

gmookher 10-04-2012 05:30 PM

oh yeah!

Have sold and installed many of your systems on late model challengers, Camaros and Mustangs. Any plans to have a clutch style blower? Or is it always turning like most of your current compressors? Also can you tell us anything about the intercooler set up? Air to air or air to water?

Having a clutch on the blower defeats the whole purpose of having a blower...the best part is that it is always there when you want/need it!

The Vortech system will feature an air/air style charge cooler, which we feel is a good fit for the vehicle, the packaging, and the consumer.

RAYSSPL 10-04-2012 06:06 PM

This is going to be neat. I'm wondering how packaging will look like as I'm thinking of building a compound charged FRS.

MKIV 10-04-2012 06:09 PM

The title is a little misleading since there is not much "information" in this thread.

Brian, what can you share with us today? Price point, timing, how much boost, expected gains etc...

Turbowned 10-04-2012 06:13 PM

Can't wait!! Supercharger for me all day.

The one aspect I like about my twin screw blower (on another car) is that is has a bypass valve built in so that when the engine is not under load the airflow is "bypassed" from the compressor. This way it's not always wanting to boost. I get excellent mpg this way for normal street driving.

I believe this is why someone is asking about the clutch. Any plans on such a device for the centrifugal?

Nearly all of the systems we offer across the board include a bypass valve, and the FR-S/BRZ Systems will be no exception.

I'm sure you'll find that anyone you speak to that has experience with Vortech products will tell you that our systems are designed with the highest quality, and provide the best fit and finish available. We have been manufacturing the most reliable and most efficient Superchargers and Supercharging Systems for over 20 years now, and have the track record to prove it.

Tansey86 10-04-2012 06:43 PM

YSi on a BRZ. Lets do it.

spitz 10-04-2012 07:07 PM

Looking forward to reading about this; subscribed.

You could probably get it for close to that price without any fuel system upgrades or tuning components. Expecting a complete forced induction system of any type for 3k is highly unrealistic unless you want ebay components.

ft86Fan 10-04-2012 07:42 PM

Sounds good. I'm interested.

I agree with you fully... Power when you want and need it. This video is what I was inquiring about when I asked about an internal clutch design. You still have the benifit of instant power. I like the Vortech products just curious if this rotorex technology is flawed?

I've been invited to go 86Fest... but due to my work, I won't make it :(

FIREISFUN135 10-04-2012 11:49 PM

can't wait

Tradewind 10-05-2012 04:02 AM

Come on people, if they are this far down the track with it they already know the Power/Tq

Hit em up for the numbers, dyno charts. After all the compressor research they have done if they dont know these outcome then its a furphy they designed a new matching compressor.

OK Mr Vortech, numbers and dyno charts and boost pressures please ................ the crowd would like know

djdnz 10-05-2012 09:26 AM

Welcome Vortech, was hoping to see you guys show up sometime. Very interested to see what you bring to the table.

bakerr6 10-05-2012 12:28 PM

The only issue I ever ahd with vortech is when I had my mustang, which was inbetween years, they could not confirm, nor deny whether or not their product would fit on my car. Well it did fit with a few modifications, and when I notified them, it was obvious that they didn't care.

I ended up selling the kit and putting on a turbo instead. I can tell you that the sc was fun though

jeebus 10-05-2012 01:09 PM

CARBCARBCARBCARB...that's what I want know.

Brian@Vortech 10-05-2012 04:54 PM

Thanks guys for all the interest. Our team is working around the clock on this project, and will release the numbers as soon as we feel the time is right. We will be out at 86Fest this weekend, and will have a lot more for you at SEMA.

denverizzles 10-05-2012 05:35 PM

All of the functional aero and suspension bits in these forums are making it awfully hard to keep the development of our car walking down the RTR path. Now I see this! Stop making me want to spend money! Stop it Stop it Stop it!
