Blower fan squeal
 

My car is currently at the dealership for the chriping issue and a few other things. One of which is this high pitched squeal/whistle when the blower motor is going.

I thought it was the AC system at first, as most cars do make some extra noise with the AC engaged, but this is strictly related to fan speed regardless of AC operation. It gets noticeably quieter as the fan is turned down, but can easily be heard over the stereo.

It's not the end of the world, by any means (the chirping drives me mad, though). Just seeing if anyone else is experiencing this as well.

I did see another thread about some "rustling" when the fan is on, but from what I read there, these are not related.

I just had this happen last night. (~11,000 miles)
It's not terrible, but definitely annoying. The sound seems to be coming from within the passenger-side center vent.
I'll have the Subaru service guys take a look at it when I go in for my 14,000 mile service.

Wow I forgot all about this thread. I don't even recall if it's still an issue, I haven't used AC in so long.

Did it magically fix itself?!

i had the blower changed out cuz of this
the second one started the noise thing after about 100km.


annoying as fk...

Out in US on a vacay atm, will deal with issues once temperatures in the Canadas go up to 15-20
