Legal way to have no front plates

So as many of us want to run with no front plates we have the chance to be pulled over because of it. After doing research i ran into this post on ferrari chat and thought that this needed to be posted.

In that link is a description of how to get outnof having front plates legally. Hope this helps people out.

This message is in response to your e-mail.

Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 46.16.240 states in part, "The vehicle
license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and
rear of each vehicle . . . PROVIDED HOWEVER, that in cases where the
body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this
section is impossible, permission to deviate there from may be granted
by the state patrol. . . ."

Every vehicle is required to have a front license plate if it is
possible to affix one to a vehicle. Therefore if there is a license
plate bracket which may be affixed to the vehicle allowing for the font
license plate to be displayed, you will be required to install it on
your vehicle whether or not it requires you to drill holes.

If after researching you cannot find a license plate bracket that will
work for your vehicle, you can apply for a front license plate waiver
for your vehicle. These waivers are looked at on a case by case basis
based on the original manufactured version of the vehicle and its
ability to affix a front license plate. To request a front license
plate waiver please write a letter articulating why you feel you should
be exempt from the law, include a picture of the front of the vehicle
and any additional information you feel would outline your case and send
to:

Washington State Patrol
Equipment & Standards
PO Box 42600
Olympia WA 98504-2600

Once the letter is received our office will research the availability of
license plate brackets for your vehicle, review your case, and send you
a letter with the decision.

Our cars come with plate brackets so we're SOL.

Time to put the front plate on.

It's worth a shot. I'm actually gonna try. What's te worst that could happen? Them saying no.

Fix it ticket probably.

Corvettes have a plate mount spot, but they get a pass.

I work with the former head of the Washington State Patrol training academy. I asked him about the front plate business and he said he handed out exemptions all of the time, and that all you need to do is provide a reasonable excuse as to why you can't put a plate on the front.

I bought this before our car was delivered. I hate the way it looks but its better than drilling holes.

Would rather drill holes w/ stock bracket then have that.

I'd rather stick to my Perrin kit than that. Btw mailed the letter this morning. Now we wait :)

I went with the perrin license plate tow hook. haven't gotten pulled over yet. I think this will be a compromise if no drilling is wanted.

No reason you would get pulled over with this setup. It fulfills the letter of the law.
