My project is going to be Find a good paint shop and Change the color of my silver brz. My options were Glossy black, Mate black (or a full wrap), but i have decided to got for a Frozen Black Matte Paint after looking at some pics... this is exactly what i want since i want to keep chrome deteails. Any help with where to do this in So. Florida is more then welcome.

Are there any issues with sealing a matte finish? I'd love to do this too, but from what I've heard, its a pain to take care of.

Then again, I take the advice I heard with a giant grain of salt, since its mostly from random forums and a segment from Top Gear on the M3 that had a matte finish on it.

There's a video of a guy at BMW's paint shop talking to a painter about the frozen paint job. It's like any other matte paint job -- the failure mode is glossy. So, if it gets rubbed, it goes from matte to glossy.

I love the look. I just wish it was low maintenance.

I talked to a friend that's a painter. He said it's all in the prep and the clear. The correct clear coat will keep a matte finish.

He didn't give me specifics though, then again he usually paints jets and it's probably classified.

Would it be better (funds permitting) to have it sprayed black and then applying satin guard?

It should provide a protection similar to clear-bra as well.

Might want to give black matte plasti dip a chance

Update: Haven't got a quote on paint. But for a 3M Satin Black 1080-S12 wrap i have been quoted $2,500 for a 2 door coupe or up to $2,800 ones i mention make and model. I guess they try to squeze you more if they know that your driving a 2013 sport car.-- Thats money better spend in performance mods, so i might give up.

If your car is already black, a CLEAR plastic dip will work too from pictures i have seen.
