[WA] 86 GTS wait time reduced.

Hey guys i just got off the phone with my dealer asking him if he has had any news on the grey GT i ordered.

He has informed me that Toyota has started trying to meet the demand and are matching more GTS's than GT's so the wait time has been reduced from the previous expected 12+ months wait.

Last month my dealership (midland toyota) was matched 2 GTS's.

So apparently from now on GTS's are being matched in order of purchase.

I originally ordered a Grey GTS Auto which is still in the system but then due to the wait time i freaked out and went F#!K it and changed the order to a GT Manual instead.

If the GTS Auto arrives before the GT Manual i think ill take the GTS Auto instead.

Anyone else heard anything like this from their dealer?

I just want my damn car, i am sick of driving around in my commodore that feels like a boat compared to the 86 :(

"my commodore feels like a boat compared..."

I'm on the bus. And it feels like a BUS. :P

As far as I know, they have always been in order of purchase and all dealerships have been getting (at least) 2 GTS per month, one manual, one auto?

^ thats right, but perviously they were matching more GT's than GTS's and now it is the other way around.

So GT's might find a longer wait than expected.

Well I'll remain dubious about that until we see confirmation. Thanks for the info though!

I think there were more GTs matched because the first allocations of cars were a 50/50 split and there are like 20:80 orders for GT vs GTS.

i dunno, i reckon it's a bit like cash convertors:

you take in a PS3 and they will tell you everyone wants Xboxs and proceed to lowball you,
take in an Xbox and they'll tell you everyone wants PS3s and do the same,

my dealer just tells me what i want to hear, he is a lot more optimistic than the TMCA hotline...

My dealer told me today that more than expected are starting to 'trickle' through. Still can't give me a definite date for mine but says he is optomisitc it will be built in December. :iono:

Yeah exactly. My dealer in May said September at the latest. In July he said October. In August he said November, you get the point.

I just received semi confirmation of this from a senior Toyota employee calling me, they were not able to give specifics but there is a lot of discussion on this internally about the GTS cars and it's definitely not a rumour.

I think they have changed up the ordering/allocation system in some way as they made the point a few times that I was their 3rd overall factory order (ie. 2 non 86s were ahead of me) which they have never talked about before and seems irrelevant.

In fact he was somewhat confident I will receive my car before 2013 despite not getting a November build date in last month's updates!

if this were posted up a few months ago then you would have +20 thanks along with 10+ pages of members posting about their excitement.. but its months and months later and we know better than to raise our hopes up. nobody will believe it until it happens.

All I'm going to weigh in on this with, is that when my order (23rd june) ends up coming in later than an UNALLOCATED CAR (same goddamn dealership) there's something wrong with the system. I mean I'm happy that my wait has been reduced but this is just BS. People who have given up their money for TMCA to make interest on are missing out while free cars go up on Carsales. That's wrong.

nix 10-03-2012 07:27 AM

Most of the ones on carsales are actually ex demo/display models but I agree.

The dealer pockets the interest, not TMCA.

You probably don't need to complain unless your dealer asked for a $3000 deposit, as one did with me ... that's wrong!
