Dealer Oil Change

So I have some complimentary oil changes from the dealer but I've heard that they use sub-par oil and filters in NA compared to the stuff that you get in Japan. Does anyone have any experience with the Canadian dealers and know what they use for filters and oil?

Also, I have an FR-S so I'm interested in what the Toyota guys are putting in but if you have experience with Subaru then put it here anyway for those BRZ guys :D

Canadian dealers are using the same filter that came on the car from Japan (SU003-00311, Subaru filter 15208-AA130), and the oil is Toyota Genuine Motor Oil, Synthetic 0W20.

A lot (most) Toyotas have filters from Thailand (versus the factory filters from Japan), but the FR-S is not one of them, yet at least.

Thanks, that's good to know. I heard the US guys get a crappy filter so I wanted to make sure before I took it in. This saves me having to go out and buy oil for a little while.

Just do it yourself. Saves time (especially if you install a Fumoto drain valve the first time) and saves other people's grubby nasty hands from touching your car (mechanics' hands are courser than P50 grit sandpaper - no offense to any mechanics on the forum, my old man's a mechanic). Get the OEM filter from Subaru (cheaper than Toyota, it's the same filter), or an aftermarket filter. There's plenty of places to get good oil (MOTUL, ENEOS, Redline etc) in the GTA.

Toyota has dropped the price on the filter a few times, I think pricing is now in line with Subaru, about $8-9.

One of the biggest reasons why I hate having people work on my car. I get it back with grease on the outside and inside. Too OCD for my own good
