The short list for the 2012 North American Car of the Year was announced today. Surprised that the FR-S and BRZ made it on as separate individual cars, but there they are :clap:

not much competition there i'm sure it will probably go to the Fusion though.

The ATS and the 3 series is what needs to be watched for. But I see a easy 3rd for any of the twins.

Unfortunately this means the 86 is going to split votes and not achieve the position it deserves.

Yeah I don't car which one they name as long as one of them is car of the year.

Fusion or 3 Series BMW will win.

I wonder if they'll be taking the 86's engine issues into account...

I'll bite. Because it doesn't make any difference. The car's performance is what matters. Every brand new model that isn't built upon a previous platform has its hickups. Just out of curiosity... do you own one?

Point taken. I don't own one yet, but I'm planning on it. I was about to get on a wait list when I started noticing all the talk about the hiccups and decided I'd rather wait until they get it all sorted. One of the reasons (for me) for getting a Japanese sports car would be the famous reliability...

NAC/ToTY is a joke. Fake marketing campaign put together by a fake automotive news group.

We know how great this car is, and so does every reviewer who's driven it.

A limited batch of cars got bad AVCS solenoids and suddenly there's "The 86 engine issues" as if every car has the problem. A forum is NOT a proper sample to judge reliability in any way, shape, or form.

Right. Proper way is to rely on what stealership has to say.
