Has anyone actually seen any of the Cusco roll bar / roll cages installed?
 

Im looking to get the Cusco 4 point roll bar, as my car is a daily driver with the occasional track days planed and im not to keen on busting my head open on a bar if god forbid im in an accident on the road lol. The reason I ask is if I decide to get a harness I dont see many attachment options. I might have to do like the Gazoo set up. Since I dont see a rear bar to attach the harness to in any of the set ups. I also know that these are all parts to a syste, ie. helmet, cage, seats, harness and such. Im just looking for some input and my 1st concern is safety if nothing else ill scrap the whole plan. Not worth havin a car if im six feet undet lol.

Try checking with w/ Autopower, http://www.autopowerindustries.com/. They have good quaility product thats easy to get your hands on. No listing for the FRS/BRZ yet, though.

Cusco = waste of time.

Previous poster's advice on Autopower cages is good - their stuff is SCCA and/or FIA certified.

Battleversion bolt in roll bars are in stock and ready to ship. He has two ready to go right away. I have one in my BRZ and fit is great!

These are fully TIG welded made in California by Alex Pfeiffer. He can custom make the bar to any specification you need but this particular bar he has ready-made will work great for most street/track cars that are looking for something fully bolt-in without any permanent modifications to the car.

its not a 6 point full rollcage and with no use of rear seats. i don't see why it couldn't be used for DD in terms comfort and added suspension support.

but now in terms of safety, the mounting points on that cage doesn't seem very safe. its only held by 2 bolts which is very questionable.

its dangerous to just stick pieces of metal like that into a car. especially when you are at the mercy of the public. it isnt really going to provide adequate safety on the track and it is dangerous on the public streets. if you want to use a harness i suggest you wait for a harness bar to be made. also, if youre going with a harness, its probably best to use a six point which is way too much for public

Back in '05 or '06 I saw a Cusco 6 pt. rollbar installed in a 350Z when I was out at Willow Springs for a track day. The bar actually had S bends on several of the vertical bars...which basically meant it would compress like a spring under any kind of load. I instantly wrote off their cages/rollbars at that point due to the poor design.

I can only assume that the one I saw was more of a 'racing style' cage for a show car to look 'racey,' not an actual safety device.

It looked like the pic below...can't imagine it would take much force to fold that S-shaped A pillar bar!

Bolt in roll cages dont really stiffen the chassis like a weld in cage does. A weld in cage that you can put that carpets around the base is where i will put my money.
