8000K HIDs...too risky in Cali?

Is 8000k going to be too blue and attract attention in SoCal?

Basically, I got a 8000K kit but then I started reading laws and forum posts here and all over and I feel like 6000K is pretty much the highest and ok thing to do as far as HIDs go on this car.

Tl;dr should I buy a 6000K HiD kit instead of risking a $200 ticket by using the 8000K kit currently in my possession.

:thanks:

Its only a fix it ticket if you get pulled over and I've been using 8000k HID's for a while now and no cop has said anything to me.

I have a 6000k kit and I was fine driving pass a cop, but not really sure how blue 8000k is, and with the cops being so anal now a day, I don't know if you will be hassled. Probably if you bend those squirrel finders down you should be okay as long as your lights aren't glaring at everyone.

It's only blue at start up. I've seen the 8k on Pravas car and lights seem white after about a min after turning them on.

Youll be fine! As long as they are not 10k !!

it probably depends if the cop actually is that fucked up i had 10k hids in and live in irvine aka the home of the most bored cops and never got pulled over for the color of my lights:thumbup:

Ah Irvine. The only city where they not only pull you over for minor moving violations (completely justified, of course), but they also call back up to deal with you. I have yet to see an Irvinian pulled over by just one cop car. It's always 2-3... :iono:

I used to run 8000K in my old DB8 (Acura Integra GS-R Sedan) a few years ago an never got pulled over. Some Bimmers, Mercs, etc have an HID look close to that of 8000K, so cops think it's normal.

Like @Calidrifter said, my lights are blue as hell on start-up. After that it whitens out and I didn't have to adjust the squirrel finders at all. It projects fairly low already and to be quite honest, I wouldn't go any lower or else it would be a safety hazard. Oh yes, and no cops have stopped me for the HIDs whatsoever (and I travel everywhere all the time).

I don't think it's risky I have 8000k h.i.ds and never had. Problem

Actually, the higher in color temp you go from 4300k, the less light output you get.

I have 8k as well. No problems.
