Acura considering a baby NSX - report

Could be launched in 2016 or 2017

According to a recent report, Acura is considering an entry-level sports car which is internally known as the "Small NSX."
Details are limited, but Motor Trend says the model will look like a smaller version of the NSX and be equipped with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).

Power would likely be provided by a turbocharged petrol engine, possibly a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. It could feature hybrid technology, but nothing is official as of yet.

If everything pans out, the model could be introduced in 2016 or 2017. Since the car is rumored to use components from the NSX, to help spread developments costs, the model could be priced between $50,000-60,000 (€38,740- 46,485).

Why can't they just make a S2K/RWD Integra and be done with it? Modernized look, decent high revving power, 2800-3000 lbs, and sexyyyy. that's all they need!!

That's all we ever asked for... :'(

makes no sense to me...

please Honda..don't be an asshat aiming for the highest automotive achievement with the NSX or Baby NSX.. the car that will catapult your brand back into performance is the Integra Type R. Small, Lightweight, TQ vectoring FWD, and a free reving n/a with enough punch to combat the Renault Megane RS in its pride land.

If it hits 9000rpm I'm saving up for it...

I'd actually love to see a smaller displacement high rev V6, but we all know there's no way Honda would do that.

That would be all they would need for Acura to make a strong return!

A RWD or AWD since that is what they seem to be going compact similar to the Integra yet that looks nothing like the NSX (that they plan to build). It would be like how the IS-F and the GS-F are to Lexus. 2 completely different Acura models with 2 different identities but 1 main goal, to be best car ever design by Honda.

Dear Acura,

Please get ride of that lame ass signature thick brushed aluminum U shaped grille. That shit is ugly!

Thanks,

Acura was specifically moving toward a more grown up and classy business model, so I doubt the ITR will ever make it back here, and if it did it would be badged a Honda. I hope that happens, and I would also love to see a new S2000 or similar but in a hard top.

Regarding a Hybrid NSX with AWD, yes please. Regenerative braking and electric powered wheels are the future, like it or not. I can't wait for the day we will have a KERS setup on a production car that is reasonably affordable. Imagine dumping an additional 150+ hp on a straight away for 5-7 seconds to overtake a car. Can't wait.

I don't have a problem with a four cylinder 2.4 turbo. It would probably make about 300 hp and if they can keep the weight about where the FR-S/BRZ is then that would be great. As for AWD and SH/AWD - I would have to reserve judgement until I drive one. But I suspect the AWD stuff would push the weight above 3000 pounds.

I guess it all depends if Acura wants to do an Evora or an MR2.

If they do an "Evora" with the tricked out electric SH-AWD stuff that might actually turn out to be pretty good, hard to say. If anyone can do a proper high rev engine it's Honda, so I still have hope.

If they do an MR2 like car I'll be even happier though :D (although, it would be nice if the interior were slightly better than my MR2 lol)
