Installed Perrin shifter bushing & Fumoto oil drain valve
 

Just finished installing a Fumoto oil drain valve & Perrin's upgraded shifter bushing on my FR-S. On the drain valve, I put a small hose clamp around the body to keep the lever from moving "just in case". No pictures, sorry, but it's pretty self explanatory. I don't really think I will need it, but it didn't hurt to do. The shifter bushing seemed to improve the feel of the shifter, it has less play, and seems more direct. I don't know how much that is true, and how much is attributed to the "I washed my car, and now it's faster" syndrome. But for $35 I think it's worth it.

I just installed the bushing while I was doing my own oil change and the feel was much improved and stiffer.. just that the removal of the bolts on the stock bushing is quite a pain though..

how good is the fumoto valve hey?>

2 questions:

1) Did you notice if the stock drain valve is magnetic?

2) Do you get any extra vibration in the shifter after the bushing install?

Both are are mods I'm planning on doing, Fumoto valve is already here and waiting. I think someone already posted this before, but how much clearance is under the valve to the belly pan?

Do you have any tips regarding the bushing installtion?

The instructions are with the bush and it's quite clear cut and straight forward.. shouldn't be a problem to you

I have mentioned this elsewhere, they are pretty pointless, majority of the metal that would be floating around in your oil is not magnetic, the motor is mainly alloy, unless of course i have misslead and they have iron cylinder liners..
Anyway, this is why you have a good quality oil filter ;)

"Alloy" only means any mixture of two or more metals, there are steel alloys, titanium alloys, etc etc. I'm sure you meant "aluminum alloy" which is in fact, non ferrous and thus nonmagnetic, but that doesn't mean magnetic plugs or filter magnets are completely useless, just not as important as they would be in an iron block or iron sleeved block, etc.

I don't "think" the stock drain plug is magnetic, but then again I didn't check, no point for me since it's not on the car. I found the easiest way to get to the bushing bolts is a 3/8 ratchet with a long extension and a universal swivel on the end. I have a lift though, so it was pretty easy access for me. I haven't noticed any more vibration, just a more precise shift.

Fumoto valves are great. One is going on my BRZ at first oil change.

Which size valve fits the FR-S?

Perhaps, but neither you nor I engineered the car. So if it has one there's a reason. Otherwise they would have saved a bit and went with a regular plug.
For me, I'm not lazy enough to risk even a little bit of metal flowing throughout the oil passages for the 2-3 oil changes I do per year.

They're getting a vendor account and will put up a new thread soon (hopefully). They're taking their time because they want everything to be just right, and ready to go when they post.

They have the F-108, F-108S and F-108N. The N has a nipple built-in and will be just about level with the skid plate whereas the S has a small port and is tucked above it but still has the ability to attach a nipple for hose draining.

That's correct, I have the F-108S installed. Super clean work.

when installing the Fumoto Valve, do i still need to install the washer? or does the Fumoto Valve package come with everything i need?

It comes with everything you need - well worth the ~$20.
