AVO Silicone Intake and Sound Tube install and review

First off my wife and I would like to mention how awsome AVO customer service was...She ordered the kit on Friday, and it Delivered Monday!!! True, it was coming from the Seattle area to Portland...but they kicked ass on getting it out the door and to mine!! So...I got the kit, everything well wrapped and protected, instructions, and a catalog. It took maybe 25 minutes to install?? 5 minutes of that was looking for one of the clamps that slipped off and fell under the car. Anyhow, the stock stuff unbolted and pulled out quickly. The AVO kit is super thick, durable and fit perfect on all of the mating surfaces (throttle body, air box outlet, PCV..etc), and nice (not cheap) stainless steel clamps at each connection. After a quick inspection, I clamped everything in and took it for a quick drive around the block...seemed a little more responsive? However, a drive the following evening would give better results...

Leaving the neighborhood once the car was warmed up and in Sport mode, getting on it revealed a significant difference in throttle response...Quicker for sure. No doubt. She climbed the RPMs quicker and smoother...and with I believe to be a New engine sound? My wife and I both don't remember the sound of the engine sucking air and sounding so healthy? Placeabo?? I don't think so...maybe AVO can chime in on this?? Perhaps the larger sound tube is filling the car with even more Smile making sound?? Either way, we were prettty excited each time we got a red light (Odd huh?). I made sure that each launch was hard and abrupt...no feathering the throttle...just full on GO! I understand the intake allows approx 10% more air flow, which may not equal alot of HP gain to some, but you'll notice the difference! That sound too...you'll love it!! Anyhow, it's only been a couple of days (commuters at that), so I'll know more this weekend. MPGs increase or Decrease? We'll see...Eye Candy under the hood...FoSho!!

Note too that the AVO intake is in addition to a K&N High Flow filter and Nameless Performance Axleback Stainless exhaust...

Looks good. Just ordered mine with the Perrin filter. Cant wait. I think with some of the issues that I have been reading about with the intakes, this seems the best way to go.

I got the same combo. Still trying to figure out if it's placebo or not.
It's been much cooler and I'm not sure if it's that or a combined effect but my experience is pretty much along the lines as OP's.

Curious what your reaction will be.

Yeah, it's 95 degrees still here. So it should take the cool factor out for me. Should be getting it Friday.

I want one of these without the noise tube connection, Perrin has one coming out and the purple Zeta one i just don't understand why they cost so much. $150-200 for a tube when you can get a full intake for $300? I guess i will get the purple Zeta one for $115 there are not enough gains to be had here to spend much more than that in my opinion.

edit: I know this is a review of the AVO tube i just hate the little nub coming off for the noise tube on these.

We have them coming out in both styles black, red, and blue that will be very competitively priced with or without a Cosworth drop in filter combo. 2-3 more weeks.

OP install looks gorgeous love it!

Better idea than an Airaid

im not sure how replacing a tube with the same diameter tube could net you better throttle response... definitely placebo. This is an asethetic mod, nothing more.

Videoooos! (:

Supposed to be 76mm vs. 70mm, stock.

It's not the same diameter, it keeps a constant 76mm throughout, whereas the stock necks down to 70mm, plus has that accordion section that isn't the greatest for air flow. It's a touch over 10% increase in air flow.

Feel free to check out the thread where 3 different cars were tested with it by an independent shop, and all posted gains.
