Ticking/Clicking Noise front - passenger side
Hey Guys,
So I've owned my FRS for near 2 months now, I have 2k+ on it. Last night when I parked in an underground parking garage, I heard some ticking/clicking noise coming from the front. Initially, I thought it may have been the pipes that were near the wall. So I backed my car up away from the wall to isolate the noise. It was definitely coming from the front passenger side. Seemingly from the bottom. It's like a click-tick kinda noise that persists in idle. I reparked the car and when I got out the noise was gone. So I'm like "huh...must've been nothing" But today, I just got home and the noise is there again. Any thoughts/advice? This board has been so helpful to me in the past, so I thought I should post here again before worrying too much Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me! |
Was your A/C on?
How long was the interval of this noise? My car makes a "ting!" noise every 15 seconds when the A/C is on, but it doesn't make that noise during idle. So, yours probably is a different noise. But still curious about these 2 questions. |
I think it's related to your AC. Have you tried turning your AC off and see if you still have it?
Also, there is this thread that might be useful to you: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9836 |
Yes I did read through those threads. I turned off my AC too. Well it's been off for the past few days really. Haven't really needed it.
It's not a chirping noise like the vid on the first page of that thead, it's a click-tick-click-tick kinda noise. Something metallic ? I'll try and get a recording |

do you have enough oil on the engine?

I just got an oil change 200 miles ago. I'm having the dealer check it out, i'll report back.

I've been hearing a ticking as well, and discovered that the Service Bulletin related to the chirping problem (first post in this thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18384 or at http://www.teknikrayon.net/docs/BRZ_fuelpumpTSB.pdf) says:
"IMPORTANT: A "clack" or mechanical "ticking" sound may also be heard as part of the operation of the high-pressure fuel pump which is considered to be a normal operating characteristic. No attempt should be made to repair it." I've been attributing the ticking I hear to that. |
Any conclusion to this?
My car is starting to do it too. |
Mine as well any updates?
