Federal 595RS-R - Reviews?

Has anyone had the opportunity to try these tires out? I'm looking for something sticky and well priced for all 4 corners of my FR-S next season as well as some aggressive fronts for my Soarer.

Federal has a winning price point right down to the SS-595 so I figured these may be worth checking out.

I've used them on other cars and they're quite good for the money. Grip is very close to the Z1 star spec/RS3 but the tire is of lower quality and you can feel it in every day driving with the ride and noise.

It's a racing tire. I'm not looking for it to float like a continental on the streets.

It's a high grip street tire, not a racing tire.

I'm saying compared to tires in the same class it's noisy and rides poorly, but they cost significantly less.

Also they smell really bad for some reason, like really bad.

Had them on my MR2(SW20), very cheap tire, price is really good, but these days, you do get what you paid for. 1 week old and it blew on me on the freeway(R.Rear).

Ive tried a fresh sticker set of these on my buddies s2000 a while back. I noticed that they run wider than most other brands in the same size. Performance wise they felt pretty predictable at the limit and took heat fairly well, grip is on par with some of the best street tires on the market. But it seems as if these tires have an ongoing issue. Some tires randomly start coming apart and appear as if they are tearing across the tread pattern.

^^ right on about them running wider. they bulge thats for sure. I thought the ride and noise wasnt too bad for street considering its a UHPT.

I've had them on my 240sx.
one thing you'll notice is the tire's weight, bit heavier then the Z1-SS / AD08 / RS-3.
The RS-R's need some heat to get them to bite. On the track, they felt consistent once up to temp, and had plenty of grip
For the price, these are a good alternative.

The 595RS-R are the best bang for the buck 140 UTQG tire out on the market right now. Let me know if you're interested in pricing.

While I've never had that problem, I can see that being an issue. The tires when new look like they're made out of 8 sections joined together (you can see the casting marks). The rips look like it's tearing across one of those seams.

I run 595s. Great bang for buck but noisy.

empower-auto 09-27-2012 08:10 PM

What would you guys suggest for a tire that would be close to this performance range but still an appreciable street tire that does not need the heat to perform?

Touge Factory 09-28-2012 07:18 PM

Z1 Star Specs and AD08's are a good all around tires.
I've noticed the Z1 star specs didn't feel to confident inspiring in the rain though.
