Subtle Lip Spoiler - where is it?
I want a VERY subtle lip spoiler to accent the back of my car, but so far it hasn't surfaced. I was at a red light today and saw an old Caprice that had a spoiler similar to what I want. When will something like this appear?

lol nice example, but i get what your saying. ive been searching for something similar with no luck yet, been thinking of how to make one on my own. i also have yet to find a rear window visor too.
|
Yeah... a rear window visor would look great.
Here is another example of a nice lip spoiler. M5. http://bandus.org.ua/wbs/published/p..._E39_A_enl.jpg |

Agreed, I would be in for something like this. Some of what's out now is nice, but nothing really catches my attention. |
I've seen the 5axis and it's pretty minimal/stock-looking in person. Perhaps a bit more than you're looking for though.

Check out the Carsmo spoiler http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14262. Its not too big, and matches the factory lines well.

Grazio has a LOT of cool stuff! Here is the main link:
http://www.grazio-co.com/86/86_main.html Just need to find pricing now... That VERY SUBTLE spoiler is exactly what I was talking about... curious why @KaliKev said "Oh god" about it... Here is a better photo. http://www.grazio-co.com/86/spd_trunk_01up.jpg @KEV-FRS, they also have a rear window spoiler! http://www.grazio-co.com/86/spd_roof_01up.jpg |
I used a cheap ebay lip like one one here (that is actually my car):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trunk-Lip-Sp...sories&vxp=mtr http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Trunk-Lip-Spo...dU!~~60_12.JPG They sell them in all kinds of lengths. You just need to measure the trunk line. |
Hmmm... would it flex around the curved edge of the FR-S's trunk line?
|
I want the Grazio for sure hopefully its not $1k or something ridiculous.
|
Okay, that lip is great. I'd be in for that.

i'm betting that the grazio one which looks the nicest of those shown thus far is about $600...if they can jusify selling emblems for over $100, i dont see why they can't justify charging $600 for that lip spoiler
|
need more info on that grazio spoiler...looks nice, but probably expensive..

I might try that flexible eBay special... I like how subtle it looks, just worried about quality.

I had a E46-style lip spoiler I ordered off ebay and applied on my Acura TSX. It actually came out really nice. Hopefully there is one out there that may work with the FRS

Grazio Lip Spoiler
From http://www.grazio-co.com/86/86_spd.html
Drawing on my 20yr rusty japanese, the 4th item from the bottom of the price list says ToRaNKu RiPu SuPoiRa = Trunk Lip Spoiler, which is listed as = 29,400 Yen or ~375US. The 3rd item from the bottom also says ToRaNKu RiPu SuPoiRa = Trunk Lip Spoiler, then 'KaRa-Bo', which I'm blanking on, and is listed at 39,000 Yen, or around $508 US. Edit. "KaRaDo", not KaRaBo, which I'm betting = Colored/Pre-Painted, given that it's used in other line items as well to distinguish between otherwise identical items w/ different prices. Hope this helps. |

I'm in for a group buy. I don't mind paying 5 for the spoiler painted.
|
I bought a factory style lip spoiler for my last car, Lancer GTS, it was $130 shipped color matched from spoiler express or something. It mounted perfect and perfect color match. pricing will come down on this stuff just not sure when. Probably when these bigger companies start making them. I'm looking for something subtle in the 300-$350 range painted and shipped.

And, here's the full price list, as translated by Chrome. (btw, they moved the trunk prices since my earlier post. They're now the lines beginning with "Tran")

While not as subtle as the Grazio, I think the Doall Circuit Spec Tune rear lip qualifies, and might appeal to some: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=72.

OK, well I learned that the cheap eBay solution is NOT a solution. The components arrived and although it is flexible rubber material, it can only flex across the horizontal plane and would only work for a gently curved trunk. Since the FR-S trunk has a serious compound curve the material will not bend in two directions without warping. Bummer.
The roof spoiler has the same issue. The top corners of the FR-S rear glass has an angled design element that the material just can't compensate for. Well, $100 down the drain! http://i.imgur.com/imsrH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vUOOw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/v7047.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Fn6wP.jpg |
Did you try and heat it?
The one I had on my M45 was quite soft, bent like a snake. |

They gave me a 50% refund. I am pretty sure that this material isn't going to contour to the sharp angles of the FR-S trunk line, but I'll try applying heat.

painted STI lip gives it a real nice look
