Old school single din

Does anyone make a kit that will allow me to install a single DIN receiver with a pocket underneath? I'm just curious.

Thanks

It would be either Metra or Scosche to offer a dash kit but it looks like they currently don't have anything available.

Yup, I had one while I was waiting for my double din to come in. Had a Kenwood X996 loaner radio ... god that was a POS.

I digress, there is a kit available. :)

I've seen lots of kits manufacturers assume will work that end up not fitting right i'm not saying it won't but i'd like to see one installed to be sure.

Yea I would like to see one installed. I know single DIN is sort of going away but you can get a nice single DIN deck that is sound quality oriented for about 350. I just use a portable GPS when I need one. If bad comes to worse I reckon I could go custom but I really would like to avoid that.

You talking about the DEH-80PRS? That's what i'm looking at but i wish it had sat radio capability.

I tried ordering the BKTOYK996 and had a difficult time tracking one down. Can not find it ANYWHERE online. Finally a local installer called me back and said they could order it, pricey around $38-48.

I said screw it and made my own from aluminum and carbon fiber. I will upload a pic installed after work, but I'll be pulling it and taking some more photos so you can see the back when I install my amps and speakers probably this weekend.

I just installed the DEH80PRS and am pretty happy with it save a few quirks, there's so few face buttons some common functions need to be done via menu or remote. I'm really looking forward to finishing my build and using it in 3-way active mode.

Wheelhaus, I am looking at the DEH80PRS or DEX-P99RS . Can you share photos of the install? Can you demonstrate how you built the kit?

Has anyone used the BKTOYK996 kit yet? If so can you please post photos?

wheelhaus 11-05-2012 02:44 AM

Yes I can, I have some photos but haven't posted them yet because the rest of my audio build is still in progress. I've had the 80PRS installed for several weeks, but it was lacking a final bit of trim, which I finished only yesterday. I'm not 100% happy with how it turned out, but happy enough to stop messing with it for now. The rest of the build is finished minus the subs, I was using an older box that took up way too much room in the trunk. I'm in the middle of building two small fiberglass enclosures for a couple 8" thumpers... I'll have the pics up tomorrow (Monday).
