I was finding this same thing happening to me on some windy roads here. What we are seeing with VSC & TRAC off is yet another system activating, Auto LSD. If one wheel comes off the ground/looses traction it applies the brake to that wheel wheel to transfer the power to the one on the ground/more traction. Used in Toyota trucks and SUVs.

This is what I found after researching the repair manual to turn off VSC, TRAC, and Auto LSD.

What you need to do is put the vehicle in "inspection mode". This mode is recommended for diagnosing safely on a dyno. (Per the repair manual).

I later found out this was called the "pedal dance" by some fellow Lexus friends I have.

Now how to do the so called pedal dance,

First of all, "the disclaimer" Myself and the manufacture WILL NOT take any responsibility for STUPID things you do while in inspection mode. Plus, I am sure the EDR is watching....

These next steps need to be completed within 30sec. So it may take you a few times to get it right. It did for me, but I can't dance so go figure...... Hehe!

Step 1: eng. off in neutral on MT, park on AT, parking brake off on flat ground.

Step 2: start engine apply the parking brake (leave on)

Step 3: depress the brake pedal twice and hold down on the third.

Step 4: while still holding the brake pedal, release and apply the parking brake twice.

Step 5: with the parking brake still applied depress the brake pedal twice. The VSC and TRAC lights should illuminate. (BTW ABS is still active)

Shutting off the ignition and back on will reset it back to normal.

Have some SAFE fun without the auto LSD slowing your exit out of a turn!

Why would I need an auto LSD function when the car has a mechanical LSD?

I had my car at the race track a few weeks ago and was grip driving and full lock drifting around the track.

I held down the trac off button down until I got both light on dash (Trac & VSC off), and as I was both grip and drift if I was going through a long drift and long hard corning on occasion I would catch the trac light flashing coming on the dashboard.
But I didn't feel any electronics kick in, but then again I have all 4 tires sliding and using us as much grip as possible, so if it is kicking in I might not notice it (maybe).

But I did forget that I had ABS and put my car into the gravel pit.... So I am assuming I can either dissconect a Wheel Speed Sensor or ABS sensor to take car of this problem?

Our cars have a Torsen style LSD (torque sensing) which is not full locker (good for daily use). These are great for the track also, but when you put it into the real world it has its down sides. Driveways are probably the most common place you need the auto LSD system. I have read some post discussing this same thing and they didn't know what the noise was.

I have a video of me activating inspection mode, but it is on my computer. I won't be back for a couple of weeks. If someone hasn't posted one already I will put it up.

not sure if troll, you forgot you had ABS? i think you just forgot you had brakes.

The car has a Torsen unit from the factory. If you lift a wheel, you effectively have an open diff. Torsens need resistance on both wheels to function as a LSD.

What are the two lights? The same two lights that you get when you hold down traction off for 5 sec?

Wonder if all the tuners are using this on the dynos. Didn't see it mentioned.
