Debating...Now or later?
Hello all I'm brand new to the forum but have been reading for a week or so. I'm hoping to be getting a brz soon but they're just hard to find.
My dealer said that Subaru will be shipping the "last wave" of new brz's here soon. He said he'd order them in november and they'd come in around March. I have 2 questions. Should I order now, or wait until the sti comes out? I'm coming from a 2008 scion tc basically stock. I think it has pretty decent acceleration. What is the brz compared to the scion in that regard? Thanks everybody I appreciate it! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |

If you wait for an STI model, you could be waiting years for it. There is no official news on when we'll be seeing one, let alone if we will be. Your best bet is to find someone who will let you test drive it or the FR-S and go from there. I know a few local Scion dealers have FR-S just sitting on their lots without buyers. Same with the BRZs, just not many from what I've heard. If you decide you want a BRZ after that, search dealers outside your local ones to see if they have any in stock that you want that also matches what you're willing to pay. Don't give in to markup! Good luck. |
If you're used to the tC, the BRZ will be fine in non-STi trim. 200bhp and ~2760lbs is already much better than the 161hp and ~2900lbs of the tC. The BRZ will do 0-60mph in about a half second quicker, and responds well to basic mods like intake/exhaust/tune. No one knows when the STi version will be available, anyway. Might as well get one as soon as you can, so long as you can afford it!
Not interested in the Scion FR-S? You'd probably have an easier time finding one... |
Thanks for the response. A local dealer said I can put a 500 deposit on a new one but it won't be in til march. He said its their final wave of new brz's. Anyone else hear this?

I'd rather get a brz because from what I have read, for close to the same price you get a lot more standard.

Like I mentioned earlier, check dealers farther away from you that have ones in stock or will be receiving soon if you want one sooner. Any warranty work can be done at any Subaru dealer in the country. |
The STI isn't confirmed, so unless you are willing to possibly wait for the rest of your life, then I would place the order for a BRZ. The cars arriving in March should be near the last of the first year production total of 6000.

I'd start looking now. There are a couple threads with folks supplying inside info on the availability/locations of various models. There are a few out there to be had, and a few pop up on occasion when someone backs out of a special order or a dealship gets an unalloted one. That's how I ended up with my BRZ.

This is a good starting point...

my order was pushed back to June and my 18 year old car broke down literally the same day i found out my order got pushed back. just some bad luck. So either i had to go find a nearby BRZ or settle for another car.
www.cars.com That's how i found one and picking it up this Saturday. Search all miles. |
