Do aggressive offsets cause more debris to kick up into the paint?

Specifically, if the rim is evenly flush with the fender, that means the rest of the tire will protrude past the body (since the body curves in as you look down from the fender). So this increases chances of accumulating more rock chips along the side of the body, no? Anybody have firsthand experience with this?

yes, i have experienced this, especially because of autumn all these leaves all over the road, and when it rains, the whole side of my car was covered in mud and leaves :( no paint chips though, i guess cause the angle the debris hits is shallow so not too direct, you can hear it when you run over some small gravel or sand all the light taps and knocks on your car body

you will not necessarily get more rock chips but the side of the car will get dirty a lot more in the rain than normal as all of the dirty water is slung up the side of the car

that can happen especially if the tires are sticky, so road debris and whatever you run over on the road can get flung onto the side of your car possibly causing rock chips. mud flaps can help remedy this.

I picked up a set of Rally Armor mud flaps for just this reason. I hate it when you spend all this time cleaning your car and the first rain that it sees results in dirt getting kicked up all over the side of the car.

I can assure you yes, plenty of my subarus & my old gtr experienced it due to sticky rubber... I actually went ahead and now have xpel film on the fr-s in areas that it seems to kick up as a precaution. Similar to the way Evo X's & GR STi's have from the factory on their fender arches/flares.

Yes the car does get dirtier with aggressive offsets. I went with the rally armor as well. Pictures here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=71

I'm running some stupid wide and low offset wheels on my MR2 Spyder and I don't notice much of a difference. Still clean and no rock chips. Although I'm aware that it is very possible to have this problem happen for others.

I'm running 15x9 +36 and 15x10 +25 on the MR2 Spyder, btw.
