I take nothing serious from the engineering and development rumors spawned from Scion. whether it be opinions or reps. Turbo or not turbo.

Any mechanical changes warranted to the Zx6 platform will be decisions from Subaru and Toyota Japan, particularly Mr. Yoda, Mr. Tada, Mr. Mori, and Mr. Tachimori. The real figure heads behind the twins. I only trust words from their mouths in regards to future plans.

Ok, believe whatever you want. This guy was in charge of all the cars that they are taking around the country doing marketing events, etc.

So you spoke with a Scion marketing leader about the engineering details of a future Subaru... take WoWs advice if mine didnt suit you.

i now it was mentioned that the FRS would get a turbo version but not for the US. It makes sense since the Scion brand wouldn't allow for a $30k pricing but for the Subaru it would make sense.
any word on this?

:sigh:

Actually given the extra bits they'd need and the amount of work it would take to get this all certified and such I wouldn't be surprised if it was even more than $35k. Maybe $35k with the lower trim if anything. I wouldn't be surprised with a price closer to $37k.

And that's if and when they ever do it. This car is already in WRX territory (price-wise) without a turbo.

Fair enough for me to sink into my mind. :D

The marketing Guy's job is to market cars currently available. If he gave info on a "better" model to come then he wouldn't be doing his job. Who knows?! ?!?!

Personally, I want to believe all the hype about the purity of the NA driving experience.

Since nobody asked, my dream for an STI version would be a flat 6 with a rear mounted transaxle.

Not exactly a parts bin car I know, but it would keep with the ideas of NA purity and driving balance, but it would also make the "MOAR POWA!!!" people happy.

If Scion comes out with a TRD supercharger or something, would they install them on a BRZ with a warranty?

Turbowned 09-25-2012 05:00 PM

^^ Highly doubtful ^^

This.

Both chief engineers from Toyota and Subaru say it's not gonna happen and so does the president of STI, all on the record. Will probably get the same treatment as the Forester STI and Legacy STI (JDM-only, no huge power upgrades). That type of thunder is going to the next WRX STI and Supra successor.

A few months ago a Subaru marketing rep did say they're working on a "faster version." The current STI concept certainly falls into that category with bigger brakes/tires, improved suspension, carbon fiber hood/roof, etc. "Faster" does not necessarily mean more hp, especially to the Japanese. Many parts are already available.

The editor who published that story threw in a 250hp figure which led people to believe it will have increased displacement. From that, a whole discussion thread ensued with many posters confusing his words to be a truth straight from Subaru when they were, in fact, just the editor's opinion. Pfft.

Probably somewhere along the lines with nsx-r, spirit r, spec-c. Just pure handling upgrade
