Tokyo Auto Salon 2013/FT86club Tokyo meet up.

Hi ppl,

Firstly I'm not sure if this is the right section to be posting but it seems as appropriate as any (MODS: pls feel free to move this if need be!)

OK, so we all know Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) is held every year in Tokyo on the second weekend of January and 2013 will be no different. It is scheduled to run on Friday Jan 13 until Sunday Jan 15 (friday being only an afternoon showing due to it being a press only/VIP(?) event in the morning).

Here is a link to the TAS site: http://www.tokyoautosalon.jp/?jumpto...lish/index.php

Luckily for me I have planned my next holiday around this time and I will more than likely be attending on both the Saturday and Sunday.
My question to all of you is: Who else will be in Tokyo and attending TAS?? Also is anyone keen for a lil meet and greet at TAS?

I think it'd be nice to have an overseas gathering and help strengthen the international bonds of our great forum community! (too cheesy??). Any how I think it's a great idea and who knows, we might even have a good time too!

If there are going to be people in Tokyo at this time maybe we can let each other know approximately where we are staying so people can possibly meet at train stations and go in together as a group? rather than soloing it in and possibly getting lost! Just throwing ideas out there...

Anyway lets see what happens!

Cheers,

Matt

Ok so to get the ball rolling...

I am in Tokyo from Jan 10th 2013 for about 3 weeks.
I will be staying approx 30min West of Shinjuku on the Odakyu line so Shinjuku will be my main hub for travel. I can find my way around Shinjuku pretty well so anywhere is a good meet up spot :)

So no one will be going/is planning to go to TAS next year??

Hm... I think more like, no one have planned it yet. Currently, they're busy planning for SEMA or enjoy driving the 86 ;)

I just figured that if people were planning an overseas trip they would do it a few months before... Oh well we'll see what happens after SEMA I guess.

I'm going and I'm staying at Ikebukuro. I'm arriving on 11th midday until early morning 18th. Meet up would be excellent!!

I'm also visiting an Area 86 dealer as well as Megaweb and Super Autobacs.

Wooo! And then there were 2! lol

Ikebukero is a great place, I really want to spend a few nights there. Have you been before?

I'm very much considering going myself. Probably will stay with friends out in Komae, but I know the Shinjuku area really well (used to live one train-stop away in Nakano).

Hahaha Komae is my local watering hole! :)

I'll just be going on Saturday now. The plan was to go both days but I have family commitments with the in-laws.

Can't wait for xmas to be over so I can go on holidays!!

cool so where are you staying?

i am staying at Ikebukuro, riding JR Yamanote Line to Tokyo and change to Keiyo Line to Kaihimmakuhari.

i have been to TAS before so i kinda know how to get there.

are you buying ticket in advance online? i'm thinking if i should....

i will also visit Super Autobacs and Toyota Megaweb on different days after TAS as they close at 9pm while TAS closes at 6pm on Sat and 5pm on Sun. just need to get on JR and change to subway at Shinkiba. they're all around that area.

TAS opens its doors at 9am so i will start catching train at 8am and queue up lol.
