FA20CLUB.com ECUTEK Reflash Installed.....WOW

Mods I have that "may" affect performance:

Rays 17” Seibon Edition - 15.5 Pounds. Wheel and Tire two pounds less than stock.
Dunlop Direzza Star Spec - 235/40/17
Perrin Pulley
HKS Cat-Back Exhaust
Nameless Down&Over Pipe with High Flow Cat

I was able to locate another vendor for ECUTEK who is new to the forum and also local to me. So after a few detailed conversations, (as to what my expectations were) I made the plunge.

I stopped by and met with the fellas over at FA20CLUB and was actually given the keys to drive their Automatic FR-S with their current E85 tune. Not only was this unusual in the fact that someone I hardly knew turned over the keys to their car for a test drive but actually put me in the driver's seat. I was told that the only way to experience the difference was from behind the wheel. My immediate response and impression was that I had no idea the auto could be so responsive in power and feel. It was an incredible leap in performance even in comparison to my manual with all my bolt-ons.

I was sold on their credibility and the fact that they knew what they were doing with our platform. At this point we returned to the shop and I regretfully turned over the keys. We then flashed my car and concluded for the night. We opted for a dyno session a few days later to fine tune their stage 1 tune to accommodate my mods.

A few days later I returned to have baselines done on the car. What we noticed is that with the mods the power levels were identical to a stock car with just the re-flash installed. They explained that the AFR dictated the results and the mods allowed the extremely rich factory tune to lean out enough to make the power increase. Since the FA20 motor runs way rich from factory at WOT there was power to be had. They spent some time tweaking more power from their stage 1 tune for my mods. What amazed me the most was the low-end and mid-range increase we saw on the dyno and more importantly I felt on the street. There is no way the dyno can emulate the amazing feel on the street (I understand what some of you have been raving about). My throttle response is crisp and my power delivery is smoother than factory. My 4k rpm power loss is almost nonexistent now. This was so impressive that I had to call them when I got on the highway and my 5th & 6th gear cruising seemed effortless moving in and out of traffic.

Keep in mind these numbers will be 10-15% higher on a Dynojet since we were on a Mustang. So technically my car would be yielding roughly 176whp with a mean average of 13% increase.

Awesome stuff. What was the Total Price of everything you had installed? It'd be nice to be able to think of these Mods as being somewhat of a package.

Thanks. I installed most of the stuff myself. FA20Club only did the flash. It was 550.

Oh, thank you.

Although, I guess i meant [what was]the combined cost of the parts; Perrin Pulley, Exhaust, Down&Over Pipe.

Now that's more like it. That's about what I expect for a software/tune ($500 or below) upgrade.

Thanks for posting!

With no cable?

TyperRspec789 09-23-2012 10:30 AM

It's $550 w/o the cable.. Do you get a tuner license so you can flash back to stock?

FA20Club.com 09-23-2012 10:41 AM

The cable can be purchased but is not necessary for some. Since Msile is local to me he can come by anytime to change maps for no extra charge. Anyone that joins my facebook page get this combo for $550.00 instead of the normail $600.00. And yes license is included. You can NOT flash the ecu without a license so YES the price includes the license. And anyone that needs a cable we can supply them as well.

cool to see some other options, but after some rough bumps i am happy with visconti now that it has slowed down a bit.

do you know if ecutek works on virtual dyno? i haven't tried it yet.

This was on E85 or 93?

You'll find as time goes on there will be more and more tuners so eventually most will be able to drive a short distance to get a custom tune.

That was on 93. The car I drove (their auto) was on E85

I want the tune as well as the cable. Will they send me a cable if I buy it on the FA20Club website?
